Well during 2nd gen every group, not just girl groups, were pushed to do dramas and variety shows. Idols were heavily pushed into the mainstream media because the Kpop fanbase was smaller so they had to do more to make money. So that’s probably why the general public knew more of them, but didn’t necessarily buy their music….
Now the kpop fanbase is bigger so they can just rely on music to make money.

Now the VMAs looking like Inkigayo but the group that made it so is not nominated for one award.

No one really cares for the VMA’s in the states anymore. MTV in general is in the pits lol. The channel don’t even focus on music so not sure why the VMA’s is still a thing.

One of the biggest songs this year and only nominated for one category lolol.

That problem is an issue of a specific country and it's culture, work on fixing that. This is what people should be doing. But trying to punish everyone else for doing something they have been doing since the dawn of fuckin time just because you got shit on for doing it is NOT how you make friends or get issues addressed that's how you make enemies and make people who might be sympathetic and potentially an ally, conveniently ignore you. It's fuckin hilarious to see people cut their nose to spite their face. Or shoot themselves in the foot.
A specific country? Lol. Not really… black people would get the same treatment or worst if they were to try and work in countries where black people are rare. Are you telling me places in Asia would find afros acceptable? Because I don’t think so. Many Asian countries have specific guidelines how hair is to be worn in professional education and work places so there’s no room for the natural state of black hair.

I think the issue at hand with “cultural appropriation” is when black people wear durags or corn rows they are deemed unprofessional or dirty, yet when non-blacks do these similar styles it’s suddenly cool and unproblematic?

Wonder where people live to call these girls “average looking”… pretty sure not the US where the average person is overweight/obese. So they definitely don’t look average at all.
-
Household name? Where? The only member the general public cared for was Sandara because she was the most marketable.

Hotter take, it’s one word. It’s not that difficult to not say.
Hotter than hot, maybe people shouldn’t be offended by it since it’s just another word right?
-
Hot take… maybe they should stop making songs using the n-word so casually and we wouldn’t have controversies like this. Kinda hard to take these kind of controversies seriously when the n-word is said right next to p*ssy lolololol.

I know it’s meant to be a joke.
But I agree.

all those names are American Artists. Of course they are going to be top on their oun country
And wich numbers are you talking about? They tour in America very well, i would say more than very well.
The title was as one of the world top act
not America top act.
Every time BP release a Title song that song is number 1 on every country list you can think of like within
I’m just reacting to the fact people here are naive and say the world doesn’t “revolve” around the US and criticize people for wanting “US approval”.
True it doesn’t, but the US music industry had a revenue of over $15billion in sales last year. Don’t even think South Korea has 1/10th of that. South Korea is not even half of Japan. So pop off I guess about having fandoms in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, blah blah blah. Those sales are so miniscule even combined. The biggest music companies are also based in the US and control more than a third of the music sales in the world.
The top artists in the US can do arena tours in the US and sell albums in the US alone and make more money than kpop artists doing multi country tours.

Bad Bunny imho is not a global act. Even in Europe he's only know in spanish speaking countries plus some other Latin speaking countries like Italy and maybe France.veven in Brazil he's hardly that big.
I think he's kinda like Bigbang, absolutely owns his local market (America) but left a lot to be desired outside it.
Brazil is not the only country in the America’s… him and The Weeknd have been challenging each other for most streamed artist for years now.
-
I mean the US music industry is like 37464738x bigger than other countries combined so makes sense for “US approval”.
-
They’re still under the label, just not managed directly by Scooter. Also there are many other artists under the label besides ones mentioned.

I'm so glad im not the only one who thought that. lol
Seriously he created a group but he seemed to parade around like he's some kpop god and wanted it all to be about him. Sorry but you're up there with knowing quite well about music please tell me that Mirae's debut did not over shadow Ciiphers...They seriously debuted with such a song that stood out in the worse way. Putting his wife in the MV didn't help at all.
Mind you it's not a terrible song but as someone who doesn't like that kind of style of music it annoyed me, there wasn't that many good tracks either on the album...then Mirae debuts 2 days later with a banger and everyone forgot about Ciipher. They release their 2nd album and the only tolerable song was Joker. Because i'm not a fan of the happy, bright concept, and Mirae was still coming out with bangers. lol

lol, I bet most of these people have never streamed or bought a Ciipher album in their lives. K-pop fans just love to jump on the bandwagon.
Ciipher is more known in this forum for their floppage after the facf. Kpop stans act like they like to support every kpop group when in reality most can’t be bothered outside of the top 10 or top 5 for that matter.

Doesn’t seem like a black ocean to me. Guess ciipher’s floppage didn’t affect him very much.
No point crying over another group flopping. Kpop stans are weird. Ya’ll should put that same energy hating Rain into supporting his groups then maybe they wouldn’t have flopped and forgotten.
