OP you are confusing digital performance and huge hits and being an NGG in general.
Snsd never had the best digitals always but all their releases, even those that didn't chart #1 were always hits among the GP since debut.
And then their superior variety show skills and cf deals both as a group and individually lifted them to a whole new level.
I read somewhere that after releasing oh, the most popular members (Yoona, Jessica, Tiffany and Sooyoung) each had about 9 or 10 solo cfs. And Taeyeon owned the Ost part of it while Yoona was rising as an actress. She's the only Kpop idol whose drama had over 40% ratings.
And the fact that they are the only girl group to ever win the golden disc awards physical daesang, an award always given to boy groups also sets them apart from other girl groups because Snsd sold more albums than any boy group that year.
So if we talk sales, Can you imagine a girl group selling more than Exo, BTS, Nct, seventeen in this era? Cause that's what Snsd did at their peak.
Meanwhile today, no other older gg members compare to Snsd members relevance in the entertainment industry. You'll find a few who are still killing it but I'm sure, no other older main vocalist compares to Taeyeon musically or Jessica as a socialite/entrepreneur, to Yoona as a cf queen with 7-10 endorsement deals (and sometimes magazine covers) every year, to Tiffany, Seohyu and Sunny in whatever they are doing and to Sooyoung and Yuri as actresses and models and to DJ/model/singer-songwriter Hyoyeon. They are a world apart.
So yeah, Snsd's NGG status is way bigger than just digitals but a culture in Korea. They are The Group that all our fav groups or members look up to either as a group or individually.
This!! I can’t believe when people understimated snsd NGG status. There no gg do it like them in every aspects. The girls killin it during their prime.

Agreed but we can’t deny that ive popularity/big hype does came from 2 izone member. Just look at how other izone member doing debut as soloist, they sold unexpected high physical album. But ive skyrocketed their popularity thank to their song went viral. And the song is good too. Let’s see izone final boss member debut. Their debut will definitly going to be huge too.

Freaky fish sound bop in the teaser. I really hope it a title track tbh. I just listen to O.O. I like it so far especially where their sound like tri.be(in a good way but hello tri.be music is masterpiece). But it does sound underwhelming compare to other jyp gg debut track. But sokay, this music is normal to me(thank to sm for their experimental music) so i anticipate it a lot!
