I had to drive on-site...
Here is my take...I do think Everglow being under a Chinese Label affects them but it doesn't cover the entire story.
Imagine a Nugu group from a "Nugu" (Large and very well-known Chinese company but in the KPOP world, not really) company all of a sudden gets tens or hundreds of millions of views on Youtube. From the beginning, people accused Everglow of view botting and running ads to inflate views and accusing Everglow of copying Blackpink's concept. Then Adios and Dun Dun came out, many accused Everglow of poor line distribution and plagiarism. After that, you also had the culture-sensitive scandal where Sihyeon referred to braided bracelets as reggae hair... I mean... I can keep going.I can tell you, these are not by-products of anti-Chinese sentiment, these are by-products of jealously. However, people have been using their Chinese Labels as the reason because of all the Chinese stereotypes, It's easier to sell to the general public.
Here my basis on why I don't believe it's their label being Chinese. Under the same label... Woodz, Yena, and Lee DoHyun, all very successful (to give you some context if you don't know them, Woodz sold well over 300k albums this past year, Lee DoHyun is a rising actor, winning 3 New Best Actor awards, and Yena, I mean, who doesn't know her) do not experience the same amount of hate Everglow gets. Just look at the Melon comments, you see 25% positive comments, and the rest are just some Koreans shit talking... Woodz doesn't have that... If you read some of the Naver articles, Everglow gets so many hate comments... Lee DoHyun and Yena don't get that...
You have no idea, I'm getting mad just typing this. Do those Koreans not have anything better to do than shit talk? No wonder why Korea's suicide rate is so high because those fuckers do nothing but judge people.
Long story short, that's my take. I can go more in-depth, but I need to get back to work.
go in more depth. this isn't enough to explain why everglow are flops.

ITZY are roughly 2.286 years old as a group. I think it's more accurate to say they're two years old than they're approaching 3 years. Because why not say they're approaching 4 years? It's factually correct too. Why not 5? Why not 20? It works in such mysterious I don't know anymore...
i agree. by that aespa bot logic saying itzy is approaching 1000 years is also correct. sm needs to release a software update for their bots soon, they have so many malfunction.

The term approaching has no limitations, and that's where Alex_Murphy went wrong, you put a limitation to the term approaching, but near or nearer isn't limited to specific time or distance, hence why the definition literally says come nearer to something in either distance or time.
Maybe educate yourselves a little and not explain something based on peoples common sayings. A lot of people use a lot of words incorrectly and misunderstand the actual term, you're not alone
itzy are 2 year old and not 3 years old. learn reading calendar and dates properly aespa bot. don't argue when u r wrong since beginning.
-
Alex_Murphy inspike Let me break it down for you clowns, the term approach can be used in many ways, I've already given examples, but the most easiest simplest analogy I can think of for you is if you were losing weight. Let's say you needed to lose 20 pound and lost 5 pounds, you'll be approaching your goal weight. Again standard ENGLISH definition. Coming nearer to someone or something in DISTANCE OR TIME. All these groups are approaching their year, aespa is approaching the one year, itzy are approaching their third year.
"come near or nearer to (someone or something) in distance or time"
Don't argue with me because I know my words and definitions precisely please
why are aespa bots so stupid. You really need a software update. u r wrong u know it admit it.
this thread is about itzy being 4th gen leader. receive your english classes somewhere else.
additionally using pepe gifs doesn't makes u look less stupid.

Thanks to ad bots. Nothing to be proud of.

Darling, just because you are insecure about yourself does not mean you need to drag others that you have never met. If you are upset, go cry a river, build a bridge, and get over it.
im too lazy to do all that. I'll stick to annoy cry babies on allkpop.

You might think I made this point about one particular group, but it's something I've been thinking about this topic for a while.
I've seen people say many times now that X song:
- is a hit ("national" or otherwise)
- performed decently
- flopped/underperformed/tanked.
The difference between which of those 3 is said depends on the group that released the song, which is really unfair. Regardless of past success or underperformance with a song (or multiple), each song should be viewed objectively on its own.
Here are some metrics (Melon ULs, Genie ULs, digital points) for each tier that I think are fair, using Instiz's chart share breakdown:
I set Melon ULs using https://xn--o39an51b2re.com/melon/artiststream, used these percentages as linked above,
Melon (approximately 40% market share)
Genie (about 24% market share) [aka 60% or .6 of Melon's market share]
Flo (approximately 18% market share)
Vibe (approximately 5-10% market share)
Bugs (less than about 5% market share)
Soribada (less than 1% market share)
, and then used my own limits for digital points, as I have a giant spreadsheet of the top 100 idol songs and top 100 general songs ranked by digital points that I update weekly.
Hit: 3M+ Melon ULs, 1.8M+ Genie ULs, 550M+ digital points
Decent (avg. performance): 1.5-2.99 Melon ULs, 900K-1.79M Genie ULs, 275M-549M digital points
Flop: <1.49M Melon ULs, <900k Genie ULs , <275M digital points
If a song hits 2 out 3, it qualifies for each tier.
Downloads are now so hard to get that any song that can hit 2.5M nowadays is a megahit (only 4 songs released in 2019 or later have hit the mark as of now).
by your definition aespa next level is flop.
