No one said they were the second twice what are you saying out of nowhere??? You could keep your opinion to yourself as Gfriend has proven their old music was exactly Korea's type. Even now after years, you could hear Me Gustas Tu being played in Seoul. And I'm not randomly just saying that, everyone knows how big their old songs were.

Gfriend gave a twist to the innocent concept by not making the girls weak, or fragile things that should be protected. Their image was power innocence, not just innocent and this was something that appealed to me greatly. As someone that just recently was not a teenager anymore, I looked back on my high school days (where a lot of our time was not spend on worrying about the future and the upcoming responsibilities) with fondness. I took for granted the carefree days of my youth. GFRIEND made me go back, the songs have a nostalgic feeling.
Is that all because of the intense choreographies? Other wise a lot of other groups had the same innocent image... Lovelyz per say, is very similar to Gfriend and were often compared because they debuted around each other and were rivals for the rookie awards.

I think the change of image can be understand by the shift in public
when they debuted they focused on Korea with cute and innocent concept, which is the type of concept who work the best with the Korean public
but Now International fans are growing , and international media cares a lot more about Kpop, it was normal for them to switch of concept to target the international fans
and you can see it
Her last comeback was badly receive by Koreans
but well receive by International fans
and it was the contrary during their innocent concept
I really wonder how profitable international Kpop stans could be. For a group like BlackPink that can manage to hit a billion views or hold concerts outside Asia perhaps. But Gfriend??? Idk tbh. Ifans don't even purchase albums for the most part. Like Kard was aimed at ifans but they don't seem to be doing well now despite being popular internationally

Because playing tag, leapfrog, hanging out in school gyms, dancing in school uniforms and hitting teddy bears are things that look pretty unnatural when adult women do them. Unless there’s some sorta twist to it which Gfriend never had. They were fully committed and serious about their innocent childhoodness.
And honestly many of the members look like they enjoy their new concept much more.
I mean they didn't need to be hanging out in high school really, but is LOVE WHISPER too much to ask for??? I won't say an adult girl usually goes around acting sexy and dressing like what they did in Apple. Love whisper seems way more natural. Just girls being girls and having fun.

Their newer image is much more appealing to me than what glass bead was about lmao. Their music overall in 2020 is one of the highlights in their career too, along with 2018. They’ve definitely got me more on their side now than they did half a decade ago. The girls seem way more comfortable being fun and confident than acting the virginal giddy schoolgirls image force-fed to them by their company at debut, and the genuineness makes me like them a lot more now.
I mean when glass bead released 5 out of 6 members were high schoolers, what'd be so weird about that image?

I'm talking about my "ultimate bias group" here. They were pretty much the one and only group that I followed 24/7 and I was a buddy since their debut era.
I keep asking myself, why??? Why did Kpop stans have to put them under so much pressure to change image??? Why would they change their image which Korea seemed to love and made them huge in the first place??? Once fingertip happened, they were no longer releasing national hits and were no longer considered Twice's rival. Thankfully they put the girl crush image aside for a while and managed to release another hit but they went wild again once again in 2020 and this time completely lost their color (and their charting got way worse) . I almost completely stopped following them tbh. Why ??? Why Gfriend??? Why don't people pressure Oh My Girl as much to change their image even if their group's average age is older than Gfriend's???

She said that her lips were her complex I find it so weird

Some people are just bitter. Dumdix2 is their worst song for me and they still did great in Korea. If people are just so bitter about new gen just abandom kpop all together
Well, ok then. What I see is it's always possible to find one particular metric which a group is not the best at and say "there! you see, they not doing so great".
What I see is (G)I-DLE is one the most important gg of the 4th gen, the success of HWAA shows they keep growing and they receive an amount of respect from professional seniors of the industry that other groups don't necessarily get. So OF COURSE sales and charts wise they're not Blackpink level but who tf cares?
Not like old ggs have stopped their activities for me to get bored of Kpop, but yea you need to realize not everyone who talks about the charting power of your biases is a hater. Objectively digital charting IS the most important aspect to show a group's level of fame within the general public. You need to be very new to Kpop not to know that. Objectively new girl groups DID release less hits compared to their seniors. Do you seriously think ITZY is even comparable to Twice???? Twice had already released Cheer Up and TT when they were ITZY's age. And I don't even need to be a twice stan to admit that.
Once again I didn't call your biases flops. But they ain't nation's gg or singers of a national hit either. GIDLE's 2020 songs are already charting out meanwhile Nonstop and Dolphin are still on top 100 after a year. That's what I'm talking about.
-
So I guess 6 music show wins for Dumdi Dumdi and 10 for HWAA don't mean anything.
Anyway, artistic relevance is not only about sales.
Wins do not mean a song is huge, some boy groups fall out of melon in a week but swipe everything on music shows thanks to physical sales and voting. By that logic Apink's "Luv" with 17 wins is the biggest female idol song ever released.
Digital charting gives us decent detail about who is more known with Korea's public. I never said GIDLE is flopping, they are sure doing well. But yea the only "huge" song they released was their debut song.
-
In my eyes she's perfect but speaking of Korea's standards, she's perhaps giving such an "exotic" vibe to them, or maybe a really strong image.
-
Latata is literally GIDLE's one and only hit, and that's not even a huge hit when you compare it to songs like DDDD, Cheer Up, Me Gustas Tu or Red Flavor. Their physical sales were also average until they received the queendom boost. I honestly feel the 4th generation is very dry and there is a lack of top girl groups. Oh My Girl or Gfriend aren't treated like 1st tier ggs but their peaks were much bigger than ITZY and GIDLE who are considered the "top" groups of this generation. While I say peak I mean digital performance and the level of being known with the public.

Joke aside, I can't understand how some stans put up with shit like this. I could never tolerate the original lineup of my bias group being touched. I started liking Red Velvet when they released Happiness and my interest was there until... they added Yeri. And that was sure too much for me, I kissed RV and put them aside and still can't get over her addition after years.
-
Oh hell yea I have a huge list of them, the most important one would be I find it hilarious how stans get excited about their big 3 faves hitting big and being huge. Like, what's the huge shock? Big 3 agency groups have been taking over the whole industry like a virus for a LONG time now. Even if a lot of them release pure trash. At least there were more non-big 3 ggs who managed to release hits in 2012 per say, but the only non-big 3 gg who had an outstanding hit last year was Oh My Girl and that's it. Yikes.

My family are nice, I guess I am privileged. Although it would still be nice to move out.
