those look right
shoes make a big difference in how tall they look
especially when the younger members are so similar anyway
4th gen gg are tall on average
basically everyone born ~'02 or later seems 170

Think about AT&T, big brand right? They bought HBO and Warner
Wil anybody gives a fuck if AT&T name appear in a trailer for a movie? Or if they released a stream service called AT&T Max?
Nope, they used their already famous brands for this, because the mindshare for AT&T isn't related to movies or series
Kakao is similar, they have no brand in idol industry even though they are ultra famous in Korea because of their mobile services. You will have a much easier time marketing a new Starship group than a new Kakao group
great example
kakao (at&t, etc.) provides their subsidiaries with sizable resources
(including financing at holdco at terms their subs cannot get)
independents don't have such support
kakao related groups can match the resources and network of the big 4
but they do not have their brand power and fanbase
(starship is getting closer)
kakao, naver, cj, etc. got into the entertainment biz to feed them content for their other platforms and diversify their businesses
they serve broader strategic functions
sub labels will get as much support as they need if that strategic significance remains
(for instance, content remains king in the streaming wars now, and kakao, at&t, etc. are spending lots of money to get/make it)
tuzyu looks beautiful in any colored shirt
us tour sounds like a very, very bad idea
small agencies have limited time and resources to begin with
don't know why they would expend it in the us
they have a vanishingly small fanbase there
even their us fans would likely prefer them to divert their resources to greater fame in korea
they have a very distinct fanbase that are under appreciated
[edit: if they're being fully subsidized by other orgs (like ny cultural org), the it would make sense]
ukuleles are mini guitars
yunjin with ukulele:
their albums are all so good!
eyes wide open for me
icsm is weak, but b-side is pure gold
just found out about class:y
'tell me one more time' is a funky bop
I thought they were going to release a korean song or something or so I read (probably a rumour) but still
i don't think niziu will release a korean album
they're not trying to be big in korea
jype just needs the kpop platform for international distribution
english songs work fine for that
(also, 4th gen gg war is insane in korea
more downside to their stellar reputation than upside for niziu
niziu is arguably the most successful 4th group by sales already)
No idea, but like someone else answered here, it's probably difficult for them to join since they aren't a Kpop group technically. But I hope they get to appear on shows that are aimed for international audience, like Arirang Simply KPOP and After School. Produce Japan groups has appeared on Studio Choom so that's where I hope JYP can send them too.
that would be very cool and makes perfect sense!
respectable and undisruptive event that gets tons of international views
wouldn't be surprised if the girls are doing it now
next album is dropping in july and they're already in korea doing shoots
the kpop gg audience is much larger and more diverse than before
it can support more gg
500k sales used to be insanely huge for a gg
now that would be a flop for the top groups
even debut gg routinely sell 200k+
50k (and implied popularity and activities) is enough to support a group
also, rv, twice, and bp are expected to wind down activities soon
many of those fans will flow to other gg
a bigger audience lead to more diversity of concepts
each gg is now more distinctive (so there is effectively less competition)
even niche concepts like billlie are doing well
(hopefully h1-key also finds fame soon...)
[edit: another factor is that various larger firms like kakao, naver, cj, etc. have been expanding their content divisions (content remains king in the streaming wars worldwide)
they purchased and funded many agencies, including for gg
a portfolio spreads out the risk - many won't do well, but some will more than make up
a lot of gg isn't bad from this perspective]
4th gen is a golden age of gg, imo
this album is gold
i've been waiting for this
now i can be a blink without hesitation
oli london just adds that something different that bp was lacking!
blessed by holy water from goddesses
i can now die in peace
niziu at isac will be super fun
but probably not
they're promoting as a jpop group with kpop connections
it's better this way
the kcon precedent allows them to naturally perform at future kcons in us and elsewhere
jype got what they needed, in other words
not much additional benefit from participating in isac
