look at the scandal they made for a simple words, a mature person does not do that, a mature person simply do not pay attention, instead army, again making a fool of themselves, if they are not 12 year old girls they literally behave like an xd
u think ur very mature why r u interfering here no one asked ur opinion
-
15 years old?, The guy was really generous, most are 12 years old
did u have a survey with army or is it your mind made assumption

I mean I do believe kpop has a predominantly young female fanbase. But my point is there is nothing wrong with that.
there is nothing wrong with that but people use that to lookdown on fans and the artist and thats the problem

If he had just made the joke about their “fans” in general or something I would have been like okay.
But when you go out of the way to mention “15 year old girls” as the butt of the joke you know it’s because you’re a pathetic misogynist and there are no exceptions.
We need to change narrative in media criticism in general. Random bullshit gets praised if it has a more acceptable “following” of men. God forbade women like something. A marvel movie is as generic and over the top as any Romcom. But you know what gets more criticized? The Romcom. Cuz it’s easy to diss something that’s catered towards a female audience.
Anyway this is nothing new. Boy bands have always received this criticism from cis het men in power thinking they’re all that.
I dont get why he had to generalise fans as 15 yr old teenagers boybands can have diverse variety of fans and people who think this was joke or he meant to be funny need to rethink their definition of a joke

I don't think you're aware of the real implications of saying "a fandom is made out of teenage girls".
Firstly, we should ask ourselves: why do teenage girls/women always tend to be the punching bags of men in power and the mainstream media? And this is not a current joke btw, this predates the Beatlemania and it's not an exclusive issue that belongs to Kpop.
Secondly, I believe it is stereotyping women because it implies only teenage GIRLS would enjoy their music when the reality is completely the opposite. Hell, even on this forum we can find people from all ages/sex enjoying their music and other bgs music. Actually, implying a fandom consists of teenage girls also means we are not here for the music, but their looks, because they're handsome men and again undermining women's preferences. Come on, how many time haven't you heard people like bgs music bc of their looks? I know it can go the other way around as for ggs music, but it's not my focus here.
And even if the stereotype is on boybands, again why do we women have always to be the punching bags? We could say the joke ends up stereotyping both fandom and women as it implies women should know better. But I've heard countless times things as: "only teenage girls would listen to this type of music" "their fandom is made out of teenage girls", this kind of sentence has a double meaning bc it can be read as: teenage girls don't know any better about music and older women shouldn't be listening to this type of music.
Of course I know boybands have a target audience, but as a woman, I'm simply tired of having my preferences looked down on by people and the media and I find it completely offensive. If you don't, that's alright, but please DO NOT diminish other women's complaints because we know what these so-called jokes might actually be referring to.
totally agreed and the point is bts fandom is diverse with various age groups and genders categorising them as 15 year old fangirls especially when the word 15 yr old fangirl is used to lookdown on them is not correct

I bet u will find more token stans in the future

u should be asking that to yourself u started the comparison not me

This is by far the worst take I've ever seen. Boy band fan jokes being compared to racism, homophobia and sexism.
You are acting like an embarrassing child.
homophobia jokes hurt u and boy band jokes hurt me simple as that
-
your statement is just proving army are bigger than kpop fandoms as a whole

Not at you comparing a joke about boy group fangirls to jokes laced with homophobia and racism.
it can be compared making jokes on those matters are frowned upon by some people these jokes also can be disliked its all based on preference a joke funny to u is not necessarily funny for me
