I think xg can be a unique gg that differs from new or current k-pop gg. I think if done right, they can be a top contender that no other gg would have done before.
What they need to be is the bridge between j-pop / anime wotas to k-pop stans.
1. Appealing MV that references the j-culture or anime culture to appeal to some wotas.
2. Appealing music & choreo to the international audiences (maybe adding unique sounds found from j-culture) to appeal k-pop stans.
3. Appealing English lyrics (with mix of Japanese/Korean/Chinese lyrics) to appeal to global audience so it can be played on Spotify top 50.
4. Variety contents with some j-culture variety released in social media so they can continue the parasocial r/s like other k-pop groups. Additionally the mixtapes and perf videos as usual. All for k-pop stans to get fed on.
5. Ez distribution (+ unique album packaging) so shipping isn’t so expensive that global stans can buy easily and collect on.
I think kda is a good example of how to market except with real ppl.
I didn’t enjoy their past releases until shooting star and their xypher raps. The harajuku / j-culture ref in the shooting star MV is 💯.

I was disappointed. The acted like they were fighting and very out of sync in the group performance. The solo stages, however, were amazing. The solo stages were well done and outstanding.
There were rumors they had some beef or sth but later resolved in another tour

Their Spotify strategy is a good one as rules been revised for hot100. Also there’s nth wrong with playlisting.
So far other than a few prob, I don’t see any bunnies being delusional thinking nj ended bp or anything. YT is really bp/yg territory and so is IG. Tiktok rosie had one challenge that got to 29mil likes.
Nj had an organic viral hit so let’s see how they sustain for their next album as long as mhj don’t say sth stupid and continue to release bops.

NJ hits are really the trend and viral now. Feels similar to D4.
- Ditto: Yoasobi member singing. Fuiji vibing to it.
- OMG: Ryan Reynolds made it on tiktok.
- Hype boy: Sakura46 member dancing to hybe boy tiktok.
US celeb Ayo even mentioned it. It’s a viral hit enough to organically hit the bb100 and Spotify Japan top 10. They even performed in Japan as well.
But 4th gen isn’t the same as 3rd gen given the fact the 3rd gen made k-pop waves internationally, it’s ez to pick on it from an existing base (more outreach).
It’s not surprising they are hitting it very well globally for monthly listeners.
It’s not fair to compare rn since bp isn’t releasing any new music so far plus they have a sad discography of very limited songs (2 ep-ish albums and a few eps). This is like comparing active listeners for an ongoing trending song vs a passive song.
Bunnies aren’t delusional they just want to celebrate this moment. I’m sure we acknowledge the yt subscribers and even if they do upload it on their yt I personally dt it has the same effect (see baemon for ref as they big on yt). Their strategy is more of spotify and tiktok anw.
But if anyone is saying like “ended bp” needs to sit down lol. There’s lots of impact bp did in their career that I do acknowledge to.

BP did have carbon copies, but that comes with success in general. Look at SM and YG now rushing to debut minors because NewJeans are ridiculously successful.
But that doesn’t in any way mean they are the originators of girlcrush, 2ne1 and 4minute came before them, and arguably did it way better too. I think the only real girlcrush member of Blackpink is Lisa.
Jennie does give that gc vibes since she is envied by females. Bp concept = pink (jisoo/rose) & black (Jennie/lisa).
There are variants of gc as well like itzy (teen crush), aespa (concept based ref kda), etc.
Xg seems to go for the more hip-hop route similar to bg like bts (without involvement in music).
