"‘Min Hee-jin Conflict’ in Uncertainty… NewJeans May Be Erased from HYBE’s Earnings"

The conflict between Min Hee-jin, former CEO of ADOR, and HYBE has entered a second phase as HYBE rejected the demand to reinstate her as CEO. With the dispute unresolved, the production of NewJeans’ new album has been halted, and there are even movements in the financial market to exclude NewJeans from HYBE's future earnings projections.

According to the financial sector on the 26th, NH Investment & Securities stated in a report, “In anticipation of the worst-case scenario, we have lowered our earnings estimates under the assumption that NewJeans will no longer be active.” As a result, HYBE’s projected sales for the third quarter (July–September) have been adjusted down by 6.6 billion KRW, to 524.1 billion KRW, with operating profit lowered by 2.4 billion KRW to 59.1 billion KRW. The target stock price was also reduced from 280,000 KRW to 270,000 KRW.

The activities being omitted include a full-length album release in the fourth quarter (October–December) and a world tour in the first half of next year (January–June), as well as another album in the second half (July–December). HYBE’s estimated operating profit loss due to these omissions is projected to be in the 10 billion KRW range for the second half of 2024, and 25 billion KRW for 2025. Analyst Lee Hwa-jung, who wrote the report, explained, “We are currently assuming the worst-case scenario. If the conflict between Min and HYBE is miraculously resolved, then it’s realistic to expect NewJeans to resume activities.”

Concerns about "What will happen to HYBE without NewJeans or NewJeans without HYBE?" have been raised in some parts of the financial and entertainment sectors since the conflict between Min and HYBE began in April. The report is being considered significant because it marks the beginning of financial projections assuming “HYBE without NewJeans.” A source in the entertainment industry said, “HYBE has likely already simulated the potential financial outcomes if all NewJeans activities were to cease.”

The financial market believes that the long-term impact of NewJeans' hiatus on HYBE’s earnings won’t be significant. In the entertainment industry, boy groups have traditionally been more profitable than girl groups, and HYBE's main cash cow, BTS, is set to make a comeback next year. Additionally, album sales for other boy groups like SEVENTEEN and TXT remain strong, while new boy groups ENHYPEN and BOYNEXTDOOR are also selling well. HYBE’s subsidiary-run fan community platform, Weverse, is also set to begin charging for its services soon.

A source in the financial sector commented, “HYBE’s higher valuation compared to competing entertainment companies is due to the risk diversification achieved through its multi-label system. Even if ADOR, the label behind NewJeans, were to disappear, BTS’s BigHit, SEVENTEEN’s Pledis, ENHYPEN’s Belift Lab, and the girl group LE SSERAFIM's Source Music would remain strong, and HYBE has the potential to cultivate other competitive new artists. From a purely financial and business management perspective, the loss to HYBE without NewJeans may be less significant than the loss to NewJeans without HYBE.”

It seems unlikely that the relationship between Min and HYBE will recover easily. In an interview with a media outlet on the 26th, Min claimed, “HYBE interfered with my work, leading to NewJeans’ activities being halted,” “HYBE offered me money to leave,” and “They spread slanderous materials about me through a foreign PR agency.” HYBE countered on the same day through their website, stating, “The halt in NewJeans' activities was due to Min’s negligence,” “We never offered her money,” and “We have evidence from the agency confirming they never distributed slanderous materials.” As both sides continue to clash, the situation remains shrouded in uncertainty.

This morning, ADOR’s board of directors resolved to convene an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting with the agenda of reappointing former CEO Min Hee-jin as an internal director. However, since the appointment of an internal director is ultimately decided by HYBE, the major shareholder, it remains uncertain at this point whether Min will be reappointed.

Meanwhile, the ADOR board claims that on the morning of September 11, they proposed to Min Hee-jin to take charge of NewJeans' production for the next five years. However, this offer was merely an extension of the contract, with no genuine proposals such as removing the numerous toxic clauses, including the unilateral termination rights, from the original draft. Referring to this as a compromise is mere wordplay.

Former CEO Min Hee-jin is concerned that merely extending her term under a flawed contract would not ensure NewJeans’ normal artistic activities. As a result, she has made her intention to return as CEO clear and has requested a concrete contract with sincere terms from HYBE. She is deeply angered by HYBE’s actions, proceeding with media play before any negotiations, despite the lack of any agreed details on the involved parties, her position, term, or authority.

It was revealed this morning that HYBE has been engaging in media activities aimed at undermining the achievements of its artists. This raises questions about what they are urgently trying to cover up by suddenly issuing a statement today, and whether they are attempting to drive a wedge between former CEO Min Hee-jin and NewJeans. As you know well, HYBE has often initiated media plays that defy common sense, only to issue another statement to cover up the truth when it comes to light.

In addition to today's revelations, the authority of the CEO involves the right to defend against various irregularities at HYBE, and there is no valid reason for their dismissal from the position, making the demands unavoidable.

She’s deeply outraged by Ador’s repeated attempts to manipulate the public and sway opinion through blatant lies, and she feels nothing but sorrow for the harm this has caused to the artist. She hopes the Ador board of directors will demonstrate integrity by engaging in sincere negotiations rather than resorting to media manipulation. Rose wasn't sure of what she was doing. She first most probably thought she'll stay in YG. Then looking at other girls she also started making her own company. Then realised it's not easy to do it unless u have been preparing for it for months. It's obvious the other 3 girls were always going their own way and the company set up was going on for months.

Remember all those articles about how rose maybe renewing with YG? She even did that holiday collection with them. She couldn't arrive at a decision for her career unlike the other girls imo. The delay in her activities isn't really very surprising when u consider all the factors.

Wy popularity has gone down with ive popularity going down. Not surprising as Ive was the biggest reason her popularity became bigger after izone.
