Music with no recognizable rhythm or melody. So some Merzbow albums are not noise to me, but some ambient albums are.

It can also be an element within other music (like noise pop), wherein it refers to "harsh" sonic elements like feedback or a blown-out production.

I will also entertain the tag for music that sounds "random", either because of a total lack of repetition or because it uses polymeters to a degree that there is no stability.

Yeah if you're a saint and don't support one company or country financially on this planet. Which would be a nun. Because Dua Lipa still choosing to get PUMA money despite the fact that she has been on record saying "OMG FREE PALESTINE" and has performed at multiple dates in the UAE despite the human rights violations is what's the issue with her statement. I am a strong advocate that the sooner people on the internet reevaluate all the brands they support, should they come to a conclusion that this world is morally grey. That would be an ideal world instead of all this islamophobia and cancel culture that only cease to exist to punish regular people in those regions of any enjoyment because of what their government does.

This is an utterly absurd whataboutism that prevents anyone from taking any sort of moral stance whatsoever.

    Which is convenient, isn't it?

She's a bigot. She shared something a while back that Israeli Jews are "fake Jews" and Hamas (the terrorist organization that controls Gaza that wants to kill every Jew on the planet) is a psy-op by Israel and the USA look like the good guys which is a blatantly "Jews control the world" conspiracy theory.

I find this hard to believe. Do you have a source?

I won't condemn artists for performing in Israel unless they perform in illegally occupied territory.

I don't think it's right to hold civilians responsible for the actions of their government. By painting a country as a unified whole, you risk doing the same thing the conservatives within it do: Erasing the existence of the dissent within. They're muzzled on all sides, just like Russians who oppose Putin. And it's that silence which allows atrocities to continue in their name.

Beyond which, I just don't think art should have any consideration for barriers. No good comes from either cultural exclusion nor cultural isolation. It is the Israeli youth of today who hold the keys to any possible solutions to the future, and when you deprive them of cultural exchange you narrow their viewpoint. And you might also tell them that the world doesn't care about them. Which can't be true.

Keep in mind this type of shit happens in every country including melting pots like America. Korea is not unique in this area it's just more apparent in homogeneous societies

    True.

I say what I say, though, because South Korea will become increasingly heterogenous. That's just an inevitability given the role it seeks to play in the world (IE, a major international economy). And people will have to deal with that, and it will be helpful - for everyone - to deal with it kindly.

The alternative is a slow and steady descent into inequality and political chaos. Which is what many western nations - including mine - find themselves in.

True but they don't have to put up with it. If you visit a country that doesn't want you there WHY ARE YOU STAYING?

Is it true that they are not wanted there?

Presumably they are there to either study (and therefore disproportionately fund your educational system) or work (and therefore make up for your country's terrible birth rate). Therefore either your government or your businesses do, in fact, want them there. The will of a country is determined primarily by the prime movers in its economy.

A future inevitability is that some will settle and have children, and when you suggest that those children should leave if they feel unwanted, you will have to contend with the fact that they will have nowhere else to go.

And I've left aside a third possibility:

That Korea is a signatory to the United Nations refugee convention, which places onto it a legally binding obligation to offer asylum to anyone who seeks it and has a valid case for it. In this case, again, they would have nowhere else to go.

    Quote

The same would happen if I went to say Iran and tried to open a Presbyterian church for Koreans.

Leaving aside that Presbyterian churches have existed in Iran for over a hundred years, that Iran has hundreds of thousands of Christians and that there is a seat reserved in Parliament for a Christian specifically... You could be right, but ask yourself if Iran is the country you want to be compared to.

Perhaps there should be less, "you know, they should go away if they feel unwelcome" and more, "maybe people should stop being dicks for no good reason"?

    Just a thought.

Here's a song nobody's talking about even though it slaps harder than a British au pair

Umm In the US Privately owned Social Networking platforms. Have claimed to be Free Speech are afforded protection from litigation. When these Social Networks start censoring by any means they cease being a Free Speech platform. This is what most current Social Networks have become. They have avoided losing this litigation protection by hiding their censoring and claiming to make changes(Opps my Bad excuses). They are Publishers with ability to censor content. Publishers are not free speech platforms and can be sued for anyone posting liable content. Musk is changing Twitter to a Free Speech Platform.

fyi The US is only Country with Free Speech Rights that are God given. Only exceptions is Moral based. It starts as observed Babies can communicate the minute their born. So everyone in the World has God given Free Speech.

Most Free Speech guarantees are granted through laws enacted by Humans and their Governments. This can allow Publisher style free speech platforms. Although hear how US social networks get sued by Countries for not censoring enough or censoring at all.

Interesting Countries tolerance for Free Speech is highest among Western Nations. Not as tolerant in Eastern Countries. Apparently it shows.

None of this is right. By US law, a platform MUST moderate its content or it will lose its "safe harbor" protection under the DMCA.

Moderation is what allows Twitter to not get sued by Disney if someone links to an unauthorized download of Black Panther 2, or if someone defames another person, of if someone posts child pornography.

And likewise, you, as an individual, have no legal right to disseminate any of the above, no matter what the platform. Even if you create your own site.

That's just in the USA. Most other countries have laws related to hate speech, antisemitism, the incitement to violence etc. If Twitter wants to operate in these territories, it must also moderate that policy.

And ALL of that is moot. Even if these laws wouldn't exist, Twitter would moderate for commercial reasons. Nintendo doesn't want their adverts next to racist speech, and most people don't want to visit sites that are full of unpleasant, hateful content. It's a commercial decision.

Are we against the freedom of companies to act in their own commercial interests now?
