Wth is happening with JK. I swear someone has to stop him from mentioning / tagging himself. Also why did he post his mtbi on his timeline.🤣🤣🤣🤣 He has so much to learn.
There go his IG grid aesthetics
Someone’s gotta teach them how to use IG. He’s tagging himself for no reason.

Deserved, they didn’t do shit for BTS and I read that some of them even accepted sponsorships over it?

I have seen OP being shady towards BTS before. This isn't the first. Just 2 weeks ago he was shading 'Dynamite' winning daesangs last year.
Some ARMYs are shading IU in this thread but you know what literally no one talks about her otherwise. But I have seen many IU fans being shady towards BTS unprovoked. Just go and read digital thread if you want to because most of them only post there. This black n white pfp user, there is another one who only posts in digital thread, that bbgc user, many of them.
Seriously, how can anyone even question Dynamite’s wins? From both its Korean and international charting and accolades, it’s a clear-cut, no-brainer winner.
It’s such an obvious choice, even an attendance award show like AAA gave it SOTY last year without BTS attending the show because it was just that big. Anyone doubting that cannot be taken seriously.

I'm not here to defend or excuse a fandom's behavior, because I absolutely do not care for random people who just like what I like. But no, there's no reason.
It was not Stray Kids members shading Lisa, dragging BTS or whatever "reason" you choose to justify the existence of this ratio, because absolutely nothing justifies jumping on the group themselves for things people who support them may have done or not. Even Chan saw it, he's active on this app.
Just editing, because what I've said might be ambiguous.
I’m not justifying what happened because a fandom is not the artist. The same way I don’t like it when my faves are dragged daily because people hate the fandom.
But the other user was acting as if Stays didn’t do anything and all the hate that other fandoms took out on the artists themselves came from nowhere.
Every fandom says they’re just “clapping back at antis” and while that’s true at the beginning, once you become big enough for others to notice you, you will certainly develop a segment of people who troll or start beef with others for no reason. It’s okay to acknowledge that.

Kim Seokjin, the true Trot King!

The most viral of dances are usually catchy, funny and ones where everyone, regardless of whether you’re a dancer or not, can join in.
And it’s usually unplanned too. Sorry Jin, but this is outta our hands and the toddlers are starting to latch onto it as well.

And that’s just from 4 shows in LA. I’m excited to see them lighting up the stage in Seoul and everywhere else as well!

Yes IU is a difficult parameter to use. Kpop but not idol-group which is the kpop standard.
But even she drops with the older age groups, per the picture.
Anyway, my impressions are from channels like popsori who claim kpop drops as people hit 30s, 40s.
And I think a differentiation should be made between name recognition and actual consumption.
That's all.
Whether my impressions are correct or not, irrespective among Kpop consumers, there is no doubt that BTS are on the top.
Hmm, from what I read, what international fans call “Kpop” is what Koreans call “idol music” (they rarely use the word ‘k-pop’ except when speaking to foreigners) but to them, IU is not an idol.
Anyway, it would be interesting to see LYW’s stats as he’s mainly popular among the older half of the country’s age groups. I wonder how he fares among the 10s, 20s and 30s.

In that case, I can’t really navigate Melon’s site since it’s all in Korean but if it counts since IU isn’t regarded as an “idol” in Korea, I managed to find a SS for her Strawberry Moon UL breakdown:

That 15 year girl thing is ridiculous.
My conjecture is not specific to BTS, but rather to kpop idol groups, which fall in consumption with older age groups and the universal preference towards melodies/ballads than bop/busy music with older population.
I am speculating that BTS is not an exception to those trends in Korea either. That's all.
Hence their name brand recognition will far outrank their actual consumption.
But other kpop idol groups may not even have the name recognition.
So I don't know why this speculation is read as a shade towards BTS?
It would be nice to know ULs be age breakdown, which is actual consumption, rather than SM likes, searches and articles, which are more indicative of popularity.
Uh, I did mention that BTS’ listener demographics on Melon were mostly in their 20s, 30s and 40s, followed by the 10s, 50s and 60s, but you ignored that and zoned in on my Naver comment which was just made to show that their Melon listeners and Naver readers belong to the same age groups.
The top 3 age group breakdown I stated above was based on Butter and Dynamite’s demographic stats this year.
If you want to see how idol groups, especially BG songs usually fare on Melon, here’s an example:

What is this measuring?
Popularity/Name recognition OR actual music consumption?
I think BTS would be in the top 3 across all age groups in terms of name recognition. Even those who don't listen to kpop or any music, will still know them as the most famous korean artists of this time.
But when it comes to actual music consumption, that would fluctuate. They would lead among 20's, 30's then drop.
As to IU, she is an exception to most kpop trends in Korea.
It is a mystery,
Hmm, we shouldn’t be relying too much on conjecture and “they would” here.
Looking at BTS’ title tracks topping Melon charts this year and last, their listener demographics showed that their top 3 age groups are pretty much in the 20s, 30s and 40s. This was reflected in the age demographics of people who read Naver articles about them too.
With that said, we have to take into account the age group breakdown of Melon users in general as well for OP’s topic.
Regardless of all that, this popular narrative that BTS only have 15-year-old fangirls are old, outdated and simply sexist.

Let’s see whether they’ll actually make a difference for the boys or not now that Columbia’s out of the way.

It’s sad to see some users here shaming others for wanting to listen to their faves and enjoying their music so much, especially in the case of some ARMYs. BTS has a massive discography with so many great tracks to vibe to, there’s no harm in that. I listen to a combination of their new releases and old releases a lot alongside my other favourite artists.
Here are my top 5 artists and genres for the year. Following the My Universe collab, I’ve been checking out some of Coldplay’s new and old hits again, rediscovering my nostalgic love for Brit Rock which led to:41EC799E-D085-48A7-BCA9-06E1DB0E6312.jpg8E904C53-093A-4A38-936E-EB0E58934DA5.jpg
