You weren't kidding! I won't lie, I didn't hear much about his solo until now but this honestly might be one of my favorite solo songs (if not my favorite) from EXO after checking it out. I'll have to see more of the album.

I don't follow LOONA much outside of listening to music or watching some performances but I always hear Heejin's name and she stands out. I assumed she would be equally appreciated in the fandom.
I 100% reccomend giving his album a listen. espcially the Grey suit album. its even better than his debut album.
Suho has really found his sound, and if he continues towards the Rock route, he might end up becoming one of my kpop faves.
Please listen to his grey Suit album! you will not be dissapointed. especially if you like rock.

As an Exo fan. i think its good that the 3 chinese members left. I joined the fandom after lay went to china to focus on his activities, so there is no attachment there either.
plus its easier to keep up with 8/9 members than 12.
They also felt very fresh as a new kpop fan.
users are correct that their popularity increased even further post 2014

Mamamoo has one of the worst discographies in kpop

Answer? Armys
After making this thread, I started researching how they became popular. lol
From a prespective of a non-stan this is what resonated with me the most:
As another not-BTS Stan, I'd add that they're amazing performers. Imo K-pop doesn't always lend itself to live performance. They concentrate so much on perfection and sounding exactly the same as in the studio that it lacks the immediacy of live, that's not perfect but more intimate and thrilling for it. The choreographies are mind-blowing, but optimized for camera and not adapted to a massive stage. Here's a crappy picture I took at a K-pop festival that kinnd of illustrates this point, it's a huge stage and they only use a fraction of it. BTS are stone cold pros, they know how to work a crowd and fill a stage. They're also fantastic dancers but at the same time they can make it look effortless and that comes across in their most recent music videos too. Being good without looking like you're working too hard is always attractive. I don't know any of the members but if someone threw a ticket at me I'd go and see them in a heartbeat.

Now lets have a look at the big groups nowadays
Straykids(jyp)
NCT(SM)
Twice(Jyp)
Yes there are groups from smaller companies, that are popular e.g. Ateez, Gidle etc.
But I still marvel at how BTS managed to rise from the bottom of the barrel, in the midst of kpop giants. All three companies had a monopoly on the idol industry. Now that Hybe is on the list of the Big companies. I really want to see a small group rise from an unknown company. Which leads to another point....BTS really helped people acknowledge idol groups from not so prestigious companies. e.g. Stayc, Ateez etc

That was a wonderful response, a good way to look at it.

Imagine waiting.....what year is it right now? 2022 For a full Exo comeback in 2025.
We still have Kai and Sehun to wait for in the military. Agh! its annoying having to wait 3 more years.
Seeing the growth kpop is going through right now (No K-pop hasn't ended, because BTS is on hiatus ) Makes me wonder Exo will fare.
Yes I will admit it....I'm a success stan okay lmao. Nonetheless I think its a valid thought.
But honestly I hope Exo go on for many more years. They gave many good songs over the years. K-pop feels weird without them sometimes.
