This is exactly what I feel.

Lyrics are the most important aspect for me in my mother tongue (Arabic), like I'm literally a poetry fan and my most favorite Arab singers have many songs based on classical poems.

But long years ago I realised that no matter how hard I try, I can not translate everything that makes the songs I love what they truly are. I can translate the context and general meaning, I can also explain the nuances and subtext but not the things that make a difference between a nice essay and a song, aka the skill of the poet. Songs lyrics are much more than just the meaning of the lyrics. I do read kpop lyrics to understand what my faves are singing about, especially lyrics that they write themselves, but I will never pretend to be able to asses their writing skills/talent. That's not something you can get through translations. That's why I personally find it very difficult to believe people who claim they're into kpop because of the lyrics (unless they speak Korean of course)
