[HOW TO PLAY] FORUM MAFIA GAME

This is the announcement and pre-signup thread. I know this is on such short notice but if not enough people can make it tonight, I'm fine with rescheduling it for another night next week. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN UP ON THIS THREAD TO PARTICIPATE. You can sign up before the start of the game too.

When? ⏱

When: Thursday, August 11, 2022

Round 1: 11am CST

Round 2: 3pm CST

(Round 3 could happen if enough people are interested and the Game Master is up for it but it would take place after 9pm CST)

PRIZES 🩸

"Villain Masterminds" - 50 akorns each - Mafia/Traitor Winners *even the ones that got voted out/killed. However, the Traitor does not receive this prize if they are killed or voted out before they are able to help the Mafia*

"Didn't Last Very Long" - 25 akorns each - First player to either die or get voted out. There will be two people receiving this prize.

How to Play

1. Sign up by replying to this thread or the game thread. You just ask to sign up, you do NOT need to make a character to join you for this round of games.

2. Pre-Game - Everyone who signs up is randomly assigned roles. The Mafia will get their own DM to plan and the chosen Traitor will get their own separate one explaining how to play that role more deeply. *If you did not get a conversation notification from the Game Masters regarding Mafia, you are INNOCENT. If you say you did or didn't get a DM, you would be giving up your identity

3. Days - Days will last about 7 minutes each and consist of people talking to each other and getting to know each other more. Mafia are still able to advise a plan with each other for the night but cannot take any official action until it's declared to be nighttime. After the first day and the first kill is announced, players can choose a player to vote out. At the beginning of each day, the Game Master will announce who has died and how and who has been voted out, revealing the role of both.

• Significant Days:
  
  • Day 1: Introduce each other
  • Day 2: Traitor is revealed to Mafia and is able to help them from this point forward. Players can also start voting from this point forward.

4. Nights - Nights will last until the Mafia chooses a person to eliminate. Both Mafia have to agree on the same person to kill unless one of them is not active for the time (if one of the Mafia isn't back online by the next night from being inactive, another person will be chosen to replace them randomly)

ROLES

(ALL ROLES ARE RANDOMIZED!)

• Innocents (every other player) - Have to suspect who the Mafia is and gain the other innocents' trust. Try not to get voted out and vote out players they think are suspicious.
• Mafia (2-3) - Work on eliminating every non-Mafia player all the while staying undercover as a citizen
  • If a mafia member isn't online by the next night from being inactive, another player will be chosen to take their place (but they would still get akorns if they helped)
• Traitor (1) - Collects Iintel on each of the players and advises the Mafia on who to kill but does not have a say in the final decision.
  
  • Added after to the Mafia group chat on the SECOND DAY
  • Traitor knows their role but the Mafia do not know who it is until the second day, just that they have one. SO, there can be a possibility of the Mafia actually killing their teammate and don't know it!
  • If the mafia wins, the traitor wins with them if not killed or voted out before they are able to help them.

Nope! It will be just like the Hunger Games. You don't have to make R1 to do R2 and this is the pre-signups for both, just show up before the start of either round.

Haha it was really hard to host but yeah, I'll do a discord mafia game sometime in the near future! I just thought it would more inclusive and easier to get akorns when taking place on the forums.
