I am surprised why PSY is not more popular here
-
-
I think the majority wasn’t around in his haydays
I’m pumped tho

-
yeah i remember liking the gangnam style mv when i first watched it
i used to watch it regularly when it was viral
-
He's not an idol so obviously he wouldn't appeal to majority of kpop fans. But he was pretty popular among kpop fans for gangnam style, even being the reason for some to find kpop, and a bit of gentlemen.
-
He has been active as a singer in several years. Even most idol groups on hiatus aren't talked about as much.
-
I acknowledge what you are saying. While he is not as popular, I do believe he is respected as a powerful senior and he deserves that respect. His last album was released in 2015 though and last single in 2017 - even BlackPink hasn't been gone that long. I hope (and feel) his popularity will see an uptick after this latest album release. Let's cross our fingers.
-
he's barely an idol, i'm sure he has way more casual interest than any type of fandom hype.
-
-
I'm not, he doesn't have a big international fandom.

Does PSY need fandom to be hyped?
-
-
Many people love to call him a meme and downplay his achievements as just simply a viral sensation when in fact he is a huge star
Ya, that is so disrespectful.

Who else is gonna hype him? Gangnam Style was 10 years ago and his last single was 5 years ago.

People who liked old music by him obviously. Bigbang was hyped too because of their old music. Most people here do not stan Bigbang, but enjoy their music and they are not seen as stereotypical idol group either.
-
well, that's not surprising since he is not even an idol and his song that is popular internationally was like 10 years ago.
-
-
It's five years since he had a comeback. If he was more active people would talk more
-
His last album was actually in 2017 as well (4x2=8)

Yep, its a long time even for non idol acts.
-
kpop fans in general don’t really care for soloists unless it’s a group member releasing a solo song
