Korean digitals is based on Gaon end of year charts (100 points for #1, 1 point for #100) and Melon end of year chart before 2010. Thats because digital index only exists since 2018 and i wanted to have something comparable long term.

I think they consider themselves a higher authority on music than actual music critics who judge quality on a daily basis professionally and have generally been listening to wide variety of music for years or decades.
