Mine was the Little Mermaid. It wasn't the Disney version though. The storybook I had ended with Ariel dying and turning into seafoam.
Wby?

I grew up loving The Woodcutter and the Axe.
It's one of Aesop's Fables and a short story with a great message.
I loved Grimms Fairytales and still do. If I had to choose one it'd be Hansel and Gretel
Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid makes me cry. The last time I read it, I became a sniveling mess.
My favorite fairy tale was the Brothers Grimm's The Six Swans. I think it was because of the art work which accompanied the version which was read to me.
Edit: Hans Christian Andersen also had a version called The Wild Swans but there were 11 princes instead of six.
as a kid I don't remember but recently I told jack and the beanstalk to my kid
and I had to elaborate on the story since he said where's the rest of the story? why is jack stealing the giant's golden goose? lol
so I had to make up the rest of story with the giant coming down to retrieve his goose and that stealing is wrong!!!!
EDIT: I made up a similar story for Goldilocks and the three bears!!! damn breaking and entering
Little red riding hood
I prefer bitter ending
I don't remember
(all disney classic versions because I am like that) modern disney does not matter in life at all
The Little Mermaid
Snow White
but the original more "dark" versions are cool too I just prefer happy endings
(and I felt like posting gifs <3)
I grew up with Disney's Beauty and the Beast
There's a traditional venezuelan tale of a spirit called Maria Lionza who sits over a tapir and watches over the fauna and flora of the forest. She's depicted as a naked woman with long hair covering her breasts. I always loved that tale since I read it in 4th grade
The town mouse and the country mouse
When I learn the origin of the Cinderella story when I was taking a german class in middle school I was like I prefer that version over the Disney story.
I grew up having a crush and feeling inspired by Peter Pan.
His mischievous nature and his rejection for growing up was something captivating to me and reflected a lot in the way I acted in my early childhood. Growing up was something I avoided talking about and hated and Peter Pan made me feel "understood" as a kid.
i loved beauty and the beast. peter pan made me cry when i read the book
