It depends, if the idol always has consistently high fancam views, that means they are popular, but not necessary the most popular or having the biggest fanbase. Some ppl like me seldom watch fancam of my bias and don't stream, I would rather spend money to buy album or their merch instead.

The first and pretty much only time where she got the views she deserved was on her sequence Fancam.
And currently, in IVE, people say she’s one of the best performers and I believe the only member with lower views than her is Gaeul.

Fancam views are a good metric if they are stable, because if you can get 1M everytime on your fancam it prove that your enough popular to attract people to watch you perform
if you get 1M , then 200K views, 400K views, it's not a good metric because it would mean that just one of your video went viral but people aren't interest enough in you
for example Karina and Winter get 1M views pretty much on all their fancam, and their view are pretty close
the only difference is that Winter have a 8M views fancam but it was because the video went viral not because she's far ahead of Karina in term of popularity

Her version of Elle(?) magazines sold the most and the recent SMCU photo pack she is also leading in terms of sales. Her special photocards are generally the most expensive as well. Karina is always trending bcus of her visual. Her visual tend to attract a lot of fangirls sort of like Jennie/Krystal.
Winter's fans are really good at streaming and she has a lot of casual fans, thats why her fancam and other videos garner a lot of views. She is always trending bcus of her cute nature and fanboys love her a lot bcus she is the type that they want to protect her. Her visual is sort of like IU/Taeyeon which Koreans like especially the guys.
Also brand reputation is not very reliable, a lot of popular idols are ranked low like Wonyoung. Fans have also found out that the person who came up with the brand reputation ranking has a shady background or smth like that so take it with a grain of salt. Anyway both Karina & Winter are really popular and talented, hopefully they can grow even more in the future along with Giselle & Ningning.

Minju's popularity is seriously underestimated, at least among Wizones. Wonyoung is far more "known" to the GP, even Yeji and Miyeon are probably more known as well, but Minju has got her fandom on lockdown. There's a reason why Hybe went balls to the wall for her. If she ever debuted solo, we're looking at 100k+ sales and top 10 alltime in Gaon album sales for female soloists behind only BP, RV, IU and Taeyeon.

Wonyoung is only ranked low on brand reputation because people usually refer to her as “Jang Wonyoung“, but starship only uses “Wonyoung“, the latter of which has a much lower index than the first.
Same goes for Yujin. People only refer to her with her surname, especially since there are other idols called Yujin as well, but starship is being dumb asf.

Ah ok, so you're saying that Minju's views are more "fandom-driven" then. This would thus help refute the thought that fancam views are an accurate measure of popularity, as popularity typically refers to "general public" recognition.

i honestly don't know, i don't watch fancams :D you are correct, it's either v, jungkook, or jimin. maybe an army who watches fancams can answer this. i don't even know who gets the least. i assume it's either suga, rm or jhope.
i don't watch them, i don't find it appealing to watch one member dancing to a choreo made for 7 people. i watched maybe 10 fancams in total before deciding that it's just not for me. i do watch the group's fancams tho because the focus is on ot7 choreography.

It can be both international and domestic popularity in some cases. For example winter's fancam for girls on top has over 8M views and it's also viral in Korea, so we can tell also koreans are streaming the fancam?
V usually has the most views for fancams with Jungkook being a close second. Usually Jimin is 3rd but for some songs, Jimin has the most views like for fake love.
So in their case you could say the most popular get the most views
