Do you wish Kpop companies to lessen the restrictions on idols?

  • Yeah although lot of them I don't see going away anytime soon.

Some of the restrictions are there to shield the idols, so it's not like just to restrict their lives. Even silly ones like not mentioning opposite sex idols are there for a reason.

Social media is a minefield. There is no distinction of done in private or for the public to see to celebrities like idols.

  • No, for the most part.

I think company control and maintenance of a more conservative overall foundation and emphasis on idols as aspirational figures that uphold codes of conduct and manner is an integral aspect and differentiating factor in the idol system.

I think continued adherence to idols as an idealised reflection of Korean cultural norms is an aspect that should be preserved and continued.

The "idol system" is foundationally based on this more strict, top-weighted hierarchical structure and moving away from that would lose an essential attraction of the Korean Idol Pop landscape. That being its existence as an alternative to the "individualist" focused Western music industry.
