Do you listen to JPop and/or Cpop in addition to KPop?

  • used to like a lot of japanese music

dont like jpop as a whole because of how kpop-ish its starting to sound like

there's a lot of good japanese artists still though, they're just rarely advertised outside japan

like to listen to some of my faves occasionally

cpop is DEFINITELY not my thing

  • The only C-Pop I listen to is WayV. I don't listen to a lot of J-Pop, but I do like J-Rock.

  • Yes. In fact I got into kpop because of jpop. (anime openings sung by Korean artists)

Cpop I listen to because I like watching C-dramas and the songs regularly get stuck in my head.

  • J-pop, you can have a rec from me.

  • Eh just some JPOP.

Not a fan of the chinese language to be honest. Not appealing to my ears.

Glad to know I am not the only one that finds Chinese kinda meh on the ears.

  • For Me JROCK >> KPOP >= JPOP >> CPOP.

Note. This is from a "group" perspective.

JROCK is so diverse in nature vastly more than KPOP. No matter what you want they have it from Death Metal to soft-core jazz/rock. And not just from guys but have all female groups that can do the same.

KPOP in general is a lot more polished than JPOP both in outfits, singer quality, choreographic (I'm not a fan of modern dance for one so that drags JPOP down a bit.)

JPOP has gotten so much better than the old AKB48 days of 10 years ago as they've gone away from the sexualized stuff drastically (thankfully) and now have some quality groups that are getting highly recognized. They've also started opening up more to international audiences.

CPOP has a few things I like but very few. They just seem like glamor shots with out of step dancing, or just plane stomping on the ground (grrr) and basically everyone having around the same type of facial expression of (see how cool, beautiful, or handsome I am). I'm less a fan about how physically attractive they are if they aren't an actual team on stage. That's the first thing I look for. (Don't get me started on Yang Chaoyue from Rocket Girls.)

  • Yeah

Ok, this is coming from someone who doesn't really listen to JPOP but if you guys like KPOP, why don't you like JPOP starting to sound like KPOP (if indeed it is)?

japanese pop music has been amazing since like 1980s and only after kpop blew up internationally JPOP scene came out and it sounds like a knock off of kpop and infinitely worse ( to me ) than all the different kinds of japanese pop music that have existed and still exists so.......basically its like an inferior product

kpop atleast is original in its own way

japan has its original solid product but when it tries to emulate kpop it feels like a cheap knock off
