I'm just trynna guess the amount of financial loss SM incurs owing to these free concerts

  • You don't understand the long term benefits of it. They convert more and more people into SM stans, just look around you and you will see many buying into the family agenda. Have artists do inter-group collab stages, make fans of one group sympathetic to the other group so much that they eventually start supporting the other group too. Its a very very smart move from the company's perspective but fans don't realise how much more disposable and vulnerable it makes their fave idols.

  • Like the production is top notch and prolly outvalues Txt lifetime gross income but there's no income for em tbh. So they're losing a ton. Like a ton of cash. And they couldn't spend a fraction of that money to give RV more cbs? Or if they cut down one version for one Nct unit album, that still would of been enuf to give aespa. Lightstick by now.

    It's an investment

  • but didn't SM basically build that whole Beyond Live studio or however it was named to create this kind of content on their own?

instead of paying other companies which would mean they were smart and invested in their own company instead of ALWAYS paying other people for studio, effects, etc.

this is also why CJ make same move with building that place where MAMA was held in previous year, not sure if it was also there this year but remember how last year Idols complained that there was a lot of dust and it was messy around because there was still ongoing construction of next CJ buildings

  • I think they're doing fine. They sold like 17M albums last year of their 2021 release. Of course those are apparently all bought by the company and sitting in a warehouse so :wellr:

omg so disposable. The whole concert was just one of those ASPCA commercials trying to get MYs to donate less than 10 cents a day to help a senior idol. :pleading:

BoA has only been around for 20+ years because of the sympathy of other fans. :pleading::pleading:

You don't just have a long lucrative career on company stans alone. A group like Super Junior, for example, debuted more than 16 years ago and they're still eclipsing their sales record with every new album, and the same thing is also true for other SM groups.

SM have many company stans but their groups have their own big and super supportive fandoms separately from the rest of the company, and that's why they manage to have long successful careers. So I don't see about this disposable business you're describing but it doesn't add up with the reality we can see with our eyes.

  • Whats up with people being so negative toward a FREE concert that wasnt even for them?

They are always the first comments in the Kwangya threads

  • Didn't they have sponsors? Also, they did have streaming services and stuff so I'm pretty sure they didn't have any net loss. It's a promotional tactic to get fans of one group to at least check out what their other groups have to offer. Each company has their own investments. Hybe invests a lot on year end stages while SM doesn't. I remember reading that one year BTS's year end award show cost was $2 million for just one show (that may be wrong so if anyone knows the actual amount please comment it). Ever company has these investments. Also why are fans complaining about a free concert. I'm sure big companies can handle their own finances. I just watched the performances and had fun. Not my job to worry about a multi-million dollar company's finances.

If I say anything incorrect please correct me and I will edit my comment accordingly. I'm also very sarcastic so please don't take anything I say to heart.

  • they are trash cheap on girl groups hon

look how they gave aespa another second hand song

and bad luck to aespa that people put those songs on top even more than the original ones...sm might just keep on giving them refurbished everything to them

they don´t do it with boy groups cos they know female fans tend to be more protective with their idols
