Which nationality do South Koreans dislike the most overall Chinese, Japanese or SEA?

    • RIGHT NOW, it’s most definitely the Chinese since the ccp put the hallyu ban in place in result of THAAD, Chinese online users have been claiming parts of Korean traditional culture, and Chinese kpop idols keep supporting the ccp and breaking out of their contracts despite having careers in Korea.
    • Japan comes next due to political and historical issues. Japanese government denies the existence of Comfort women and annually visit the Yasukuni Shrine honoring the war criminals. Japanese colonized Korea for 35 years partaking in inhumane things. Your average Japanese person is usually unaware of their country colonizing Korea (and other asian countries) due to their government omitting said information in the school textbooks due to shame and pride. Japanese government and citizens believe dokdo island is actually Takeshima belonging to Japan. The Japanese government took Korea off the white list a while ago and Japan’s media is overall anti Korean if you’re aware of their television programs.
    • Southeast asians are disliked because there is an Asian hierarchy of East Asians being at the top and Southeast Asians at the bottom based off skin complexion (colorism), traditional culture, and modern development.

Hope that clears things up… :eyes:

  • Chinese > Japanese. SEA is not prevalent in this discussion. They don't hate SEA but do they feel superior to SEA.

Right now, the hate toward Chinese is high, but the hate toward Japan is deep. Chinese hate may come and go depend on political climate, but Japanese hate is here to stay for a long time.

  • Dont think they dislike sea countries, they just see them as less which depending your pov it can be even worse :/

I believe japan to this day haven't apologized to them for their war crimes so there's definitely hate there. They also dislike china a lot but it feels to a lesser extent than jpn

At least 3 Japanese prime ministers issued an official apology

Koreans would like the emperor to apologise too but that won't ever happen

  • I think through history its gotta be JP due to what they did but overall SK just seem racist towards all 3 and quite hateful towards China recently.

They hate the way Sea people look, dislike JP due to history and dislike China due to NK/Culture war.

And they were also half-assed apologies from what I know, so koreans issue is not just wanting emperor to apologize. At this point even if japan did properly apologize it's been too long and the dislike has been ingrained into koreans minds

I've read the apologies, they were ...Japanese-like...they don’t express stuff directly but they were ok, Koreans will always keep saying the Japanese never apologised because not only Japanese, Koreans are also very indoctrinated...there're still other problematic issues tho and the hatred is too deep seethed as you said so it will contibue like this for a while

  • The hate for the Chinese and Japanese is not racial/based on physical characteristics. It’s more political. They will consume their media they will work in those countries etc.

SEA on the other hand do look different. And many Koreans are very blatant about their dislike for it.

Similar to Europe. The countries can have war filled pasts. And they may harbor many ill feelings because of it.

But the collective racial prejudice against darker skin on the other hand is something that unites.

  • In regards to SEA is not really correct to say they hate them, but rather feel that they are poor and inferior countries similar to how Western Europeans view Eastern European countries or how the USA views Mexico and other Latin American countries.

The New York Times recently had an article about growing anti-China sentiment particulary among the younger generation and how it surpassed anti-Japan sentiment
