I mean, it kind of makes sense, right? If they're able to gain notoriety throughout their Kpop careers, might as well translate it to a career as a YouTube/Twitch personality. A lot of people would rather watch somebody like that than complete unknowns reacting to cat videos. I actually like watch Sera's channel from time to time since she'd genuinely a sweet person it seems. Her being part of the business also adds legitimacy to her opinions rather than some random guy.
Is the future for fizzled out Kpop Idols to be YouTube/Twitch Idols?

It is the go-to career in this social media age for celebs after their careers

I think it's very likely. Apparently, you can actually make a solid living with just 100-500k subscribers on YT.
There will be some interesting times ahead i think.
Kpop fans are thirsty for bts gossip and tea and retired idols are literally the best sources for this tea. They could easily put those Kpop rumor accounts out of business lol.
The idols would have to be careful, pick and choose interesting stories to tell, but without going too far and starting vicious fanwars. Would be a very risky line to toe, but could be done. And actually, many fans might not even care about the really juicy stuff, some might just be happy hearing regular stories about idol life.

Per Way, she mentioned in one of her videos that she makes decent money, more or less equivalent to what she was earning as an idol back then. I'll try to search for that specific video.
Twitch however is another beast. I don't know about ex-idols but T-Pain recently breakdown what it's like to be a Twitch streamer - just because he is successful as a recording artist, it doesn't translate equally as a streamer. The audience he has is nothing in comparison to someone established like XQC for example.

They better not take the easy way out (kidding)
