  • I would say their mascaras and liquid pen liners are quite good. Heroine Make mascara is pretty classic. Their liquid liner is also good. I have heard good things about the Dollywink liner as well but never tried it.

Nice, Any brand recommendation? How about the skincare?

its so PRETTY and i really like how naural its colour looks too

For drugstore brand make up, maybe give Canmake or Kate a shot. I haven't tried the other make up brands under Shiseido, except mascara from Shiseido Majolica Majorca line.

As for skincare, I have only really have experience with their sunscreen and cleansers. The Shiseido Senka Perfect Whip is a classic foam cleanser. I remember it's pretty popular. I did enjoy the Hada Labo cleansing foam more than the DHC cleansing foam. I am interested in trying the Hada Labo lotions since those are quite well known.

  • Hm...the first item is etude house so they might have it in other sites that sell kr items unless it's a jp exclusive. Will have to look. That flower lipstick is cute. JP product really have cute packaging.

its a different brand, it just looks like Etude House, maybe like you said its special version of the same item o.o

  • Ah. It said etude house on the pic that's why I was confused. It basically makes like a aegyosal? That's interesting.

it does tho i use it for different reasons lol, its glitter and dark colour part is great, i use them like a type of shadow? and it looks amazing lol

  • I'm using Hado Labo skincare for ages. It's nice, cheap, suits sensitive skin (no fragrance, no coloring) and I can easily buy it offline. I also use some Rohto, Biore, Canmake and Shiseido products (primarily sunscreens), but HL is my fave.

I'm not very experienced in J makeup. I tried only Canmake and Shiseido eyeshadows. They were fine, but there's nothing special about them. Usually I prefer European makeup brands for most of the products and Korean BB/cushions.

  • BTW does anyone know any good internet shops for J-beauty products?

Japanese products on Yesstyle are totaly overpriced. They are 2 times more expensive than in Japan and even 1.7 more expensive than offline in my country. And I don't know any other shops with worldwide shipping with reasonable prices. Please share if know something better. I'd like to try more makeup especially BBs and foundations but Japanese skincare is more imported to my country and there's no a lot of makeup variety.

Hm..would Stylevana work for you? Not sure where you are based out of but I heard about the site on the asian beauty reddit. They also sell K beauty stuff too.

I am interested in trying Hado Labo. I enjoyed the oil cleanser from them and I got the Hado Labo Shiro Jyun emulsion milk but haven't tried it yet since I am trying to go through my Laneige Cream Skin stash.

Never tried Jp eyeshadows but it might be due to the fact I have enough eyeshadow palletes so I never paid attention to them. The Jp mascaras and liquid pen liners are pretty darn solid tho.

  • My go to mascara is from Japan. Can’t remember what it’s called right now but the bottle is red. It’s makes your lashes a lot longer but still has a natural and light feel to it that I really love. Plus you can remove it with water which is great since I never remember to use makeup remover.

I think the red one is the Dejavu Fiberwig. That's the only really well known JP mascara in red package I can think of.

Yeah. The mascara is hard to get off. I remember it's the same for the Isehan Kiss Me Heroine mascara. They even made like a mascara remover in a tube since the product can me hard to take off.

Yep that’s the one! Your a magic worker:wow:

Really like it. And even tho it’s easy to remove it doesn’t smudge much in my experience and never get panda eyes after sleeping with it.

I have seen enough mascaras in JP to recognize the red package one :D I have only tried it once yrs ago but don't remember what I thought of it.

This one has been my go-to for a long time. You need a good make up remover to get it off.

  • I do not share the general delight about Japanese mascaras. It's such a pain in the ass to remove them even with oil. || I prefer something I can wash off quickly like termo mascaras or just ordinary non waterproof.

I saw Heroine made a special remover. Maybe it works better than usual oil cleansers.

  • Yes I heard about Isehan making a special remover for it since initially it was really hard to remove with make up remover and cleanser. You really need a double cleanse for that mascara. I think they might have changed the formula yrs ago a bit to make it easier to remove.

Oh that one looks nice. The red one is the only one I’ve seen in stores here tho.

  • i have sheseido and it makes my skin feel so hydrated and soft, i totally recommend

  • I've used Shiseido products because I often receive them as Christmas gifts. Shiseido products tend to be heavily fragranced but I'm not going to let a 285 USD jar of night cream go to waste. I've tried Japanese sunscreens-which I bought while in Japan-and I like them. The brands they sell at the Japanese supermarkets where I'm at seem so random.

  • A store sold selfheating eyemasks and even tho the packaging was fully in German and French only they claimed on the package that it was the nr. 1 product for eyemasks in Japan and that this product would've been made in Japan. I tried it and it was kinda nice since the only thing it did was heating up my eyes while I took a 30 minutes long nap lol but it's not worth the money.

My mom used a lot items of the brand Shiseido but I am not a professional in seeing if a 30 bucks Lipstick works better than a 2 bucks one so I can only say that my mom at least got good colors on her lips when she wears that brand

  • Everytime I hear of Shiseido, I have to keep reminding myself people are talking about Shiseido Ginza. In parts of Asia and Japan there are other make up brands under Shiseido ie Maquillage, Intergrate, and Majorca Majolica

This, but they only sold it as 1 time use not in such big packages in my local drugstore (PS: why did I thought it was German and French when that's in German and English? LMAO) I only bought it to test it after they reduced it from 3€ to 1,50€ (Expensive when you have only 1 mask that does nothing more than heating up your eyes)

Ahh..I see..it's the same brand. I am curious to try that out actually. I have seen them before when I was in JP but never picked them up

It's legit. KAO is the mother company for Biore for expample. They sell them in many countries in localized packaging. I didn't buy them though, sounds like a waste of money and extra trash. ^^

Heroine mascaras are the bomb! They really hold up and is much more effective in lengthening and volumizing. Its my favorite mascara brand.

I tried a facial wash (i forgot the brand), it was really mild and hydrating. I don't know about others though

Yep. I have been using the Heroine mascara for a long time. I should probably play with some of the other JP mascaras tho but haven't been wearing mascara since the pandemic

  • The MegRhythm eye masks are my favorite buy for when I go to Japan, I stock up! It’s really good for those that use your eyes to stare at computer screen all day or have hard time falling asleep! It’s cheaper here in Asia though.

My fav skin scare is Kose Sekkisei Lotion to lighten my acne scars. It works very well and doesn’t cause my skin to break out more. I also tried Hada Labo but it doesn’t work for me.

I am also a huge fan of the Moist Diane shampoo and conditioners that are chemical (SLS,Paraben etc) free. The Fresh & Hydrate, Volume & Scalp, and Nightly Repair are all incredible.

Re Makeup, I used to use Shiseido and Kate but then they keep changing the ingredients and I don’t like the new formula.
