i'm not that impressed by 4th gen. wbu?
i'm not that impressed by 4th gen. wbu?
why do we constantly compare 3rd gen and 4th gen? I'm genuinely curious
hmmm for the moment i'll say not really
I think comparisons as such can only be done once 4th gen is over. Not everyone has debuted yet.
Maybe the comparison would make more sense if you compared the current 4th gen with the first years of the 3rd gen.
why do we constantly compare 3rd gen and 4th gen? I'm genuinely curious
cause they're supposed to replace 3rd gen. people always compare the new with the old.
4th generation is still in its infancy so it doesn't make sense to compare it to the whole of 3rd generation which lasted like 8 years so far.
tbh no. There's more emphasis on performances and choreo rather than impressive vocals. If there's any emphasis put on them it's more learning how to stay stable vocally during difficult choreo.
Only the Aespa/PurpleKiss girls and Jo Yuri have impressed me vocally. IDK about 4th gen BGs though but Jongho is pretty good.
Of course.
maybe i'm weird, but that's so irrelevant for me
I'm not that impressed with the newer girlsgroups, but it's often also a matter for personal taste when it comes to what is "good vocals". It's probably not much difference between, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation groups if you look at the totals of all groups. But but the top 1-5 groups always get more focus so the whole "generation" often get judged based on them. People don't care much about the groups ranked 20-30.......
but we are talking about the 3rd generation and 4th generation debut or are we comparing vocals from 7/8 years with 2/3 years?
Nope
2nd gen>> all the above
Of course.

Nope.
I'm not an expert so I won't comment but I want my akorn regardless
I'm just gonna say that 4th gen have some amazing vocalists too
Wut? I was hyping her up nonstop lol, i think i reposted this like 10 times.
I even said that i liked Door more than Glassy and Blue Eyes more than any of the songs on either album.
But when it comes to vocals, i think Yuri is clearly superior.
I don't think my objection is necessarily with vocalists but rather the style of music that has come to dominate.
I prefer as a whole, 2nd generation over 3rd and 4th because in my mind more of the songs across groups seemed to emphasis vocals and melody more.
I was telling Ripia, I can put any random 2ng gen girl group playlist online someone made and I will generally like or love an overwhelming majority of the songs.
I cannot do that with 3rd or 4th gen because there was such a large scale move to a "talk singing" "chanting" style and less melodic rapping.
I want stuff like this back.
(
My point is that they're are still amazing vocalists now. But I enjoy them less because of the style change.

Wow this is great.
This is PURPLE KISS? I will check them out.

I think by average kinda for females? There were only 3 super strong standouts in mainstream vocalists in the 3rd gen (Wendy,Wheein,Solar) that are not coming close to any 4th gen vocalist that is mainstream and the other top 5 were on the level of the top 4th gen vocalists today. The problem is that after the top 4th gen vocalists there's a REALLY BIG gap where the average 4th gen vocalist is a weak-to-average one or weak one.
For males yes....it's very very bad. For all the slag BTS gets on their vocals, debut (before his slight regression)Jungkook would be an average vocalist in the 4th gen. RIP all the mainstream ones, poor Jongho carrying on his back.
The top male vocalists are nugus but I can see CRAVITY's Woobin being the strongest mainstream vocalist if CRAVITY is more popular.

I think you should go to bsides, Yeppi Yeppi is one Aespa has, there's a lot from one specific nugu I think you will like.
3rd gen vocals of big groups like twice/brs/bp were never acknowledged either.
Now too there are only few groups whose vocals are acknowledged.

I do listen to b-sides.
Though I haven't listened to everyone for sure.
Yeppi is like my normal objection to some of AESPA style. In that I love individual parts of that song but it has too many style shifts and don't like the "switch" structure.
The poppy bright chorus of that song is amazing though.
What's the nugu group you were talking about?
Yes, they got 2 mini albums "Into Violet" and "Hide & Seek". They have great versatility, so I think you will find at least a few songs that you like.

No offence but that's the epitome of a filler and a skip

None taken.
I disagree though.
It's literally my 2nd favorite song in kpop.
i think third gen started off as slightly raw and unpolished.
if you look at bp or rv or twice or gfriend they had a slight tinge of childishness to them, even if they debuted at the same age, even if they had more mature concepts.
i think 4th gen has none of that, and they train till theyre as good as they can get, and then improve only by a little.
that's why on average i think 4th gen have better vocals/dance skills than 3rd gen did, but now that 3rd gen are experienced it's about the same

the only one i can think of is elris rn but that's not the one I had in mind, I'll get back to you!

I'm a big fan of ELRIS. Love them.
why are we comparing entire generations v one another?
isn't it better to compare one group v another or one idol v another?
3rd gen is brought down by groups like twice who legit have no good vocalist. time will tell though.
that's a bit harsh my friend...
which voice of a female idol of the 3rd gen do you like then? or a group?
