How are NCT DREAM outperforming NCT 127?

  • NCT 127 gets promoted in 2 of the biggest music markets in the world, but NCT DREAM are doing good if not better, in terms of sales and charting, without any global promotion. NCT 127 should be doing 3 times better, but they aren't. Is it time to send NCT DREAM out into the global market?

Only honest responses that are open for discussion please.

Why are you obsessed with their sales and charting if youre not even a fan? ☠️

Anyway 127 has better physicals and western chart rankings, meanwhile dream has the korean charts and downloads, so its pretty even. No need to compare 2 units of the same group, dummy :blehr:

  • Domestic fans are more likely to look down on childhood scammers than international fans are.

NCT 127 doesn't have better physicals. Look at the sale data for NCT DREAM's album sales over the years.

They're under the same brand but they aren't the same group. There's no reason to resort to name calling and using ableist language.

  • Nct dream is doing great honestly. They are marketed towards korea and they're right now definitely number 2 boy group in korean digitals. On YouTube and Spotify both are same but this is where nct 127 should be doing better. Because they are marketed towards international audience as main unit. But they are only doing as good as dream and worse than even 4th gen boy groups. It is more likelier that a 4th gen boygroup will debut on billboard than nct 127. Sales are similar for both the groups but if they stop selling these cheap versions they will be closer to 4th gen groups than people think. Only thing differentiating them is nct dream's korean digitals. Because these 4th gen groups aren't selling cheap versions of physicals with individual covers.

  • Sigh. No need for unit wars but I wouldn't go bragging about NCT dream outdoing NCT127 until their next comeback in the setting of the crackdown on chinese bars. Y'all might have to eat crow.

"dreamzens" must be ot5 for all their determination to crap on a unit that both mark/haechan are also a part of.

  • The simple answer here is that they are not.

We don't even know what NCT Dream will do next. Maybe they will target the int. market in the future. Why can't you all just wait?

Stop trying to pit sub-units against each other.

  • Dream has always been the famous unit imo, 127 has hardcore fans but Dream has more casuals

Plus NCT Dream is like the only NCT unit that doesn't really change members, so the casuals and all can get attached to them easier and hence better digitals

This is my observation anyway as casual fan of NCT

  • NCT Dream have been consistently outperforming all the other NCT subunits since their debut.

  • Their numbers in 2021 are higher because Dream gained a lot of recognition from fans during NCT 2020. Jaemin and Jeno in particular were very visible in promotions.

We Are Superhuman was boycotted by some NCTzens.

Sticker literally just outsold Hot Sauce to become the best selling SM album.

  • I don't follow sales and charting, but didn't Sticker sell more than Hot Sauce?

  • Sigh. No need for unit wars but I wouldn't go bragging about NCT dream outdoing NCT127 until their next comeback in the setting of the crackdown on chinese bars. Y'all might have to eat crow.

Wondering why a group that has 3x the outreach isn't doing significantly better isn't a unit war. If you looked at their sales data most of their sales came from Asia specifically SEA countries. I don't think the crackdown on Chinese bars will impact them negatively-- As C bars are already getting around it.

    It did. OP is reaching

OP is not reaching. I didn't mention STICKER OR HOT SAUCE. I linked sales data from 2018 & 2019 to show how they've been either selling the same or more than NCT 127 without the heavy global promotions.

Their numbers in 2021 are higher because Dream gained a lot of recognition from fans during NCT 2020. Jaemin and Jeno in particular were very visible in promotions.

Their numbers in 2021 aren't higher because of NCT DREAM gaining recognition from fans during NCT 2020. It's the other way around. WE BOOM was what put NCT on the map in South Korea. I wouldn't attribute their success with HOT SAUCE to NCT 2020. Look at their sales data and charting over the years. The only way for them to go was up.

    Congratulations to STICKER.

Shinee still sold better digitally this year, and 2nd gen bgs outcharted hello future.

I'd agree with them being the #2 biggest bg digitally if HF did half as good as HS but the funds for mass-buying weren't as much and fans were exhausted and it shows

Not when stray kids are also releasing these 'cheap' jewel cases individual versions and txt also releases two versions of jewel cases

  • Why are Dreamzens so obsessed with this? Both groups are doing great. Both groups are part of the same group - they are literally sub-units of an existing group, , which is the way the company AND the members describe it.

There's enough room at the table for everyone.

Your stats actually prove the contrary - you can see a huge boost in Dream's sales in 2021...post-Resonance. The sales lift post "We Boom" is the normal growth, but the sales post-Resonance is 3 to 5x what it was in the preceding years. That's a really substantial post-Resonance lift.

It's not a bad thing that more people became interested in them after Resonance so it's weird you're trying to argue that. ALL past NCT sub-unit releases saw a boost post-Resonance, which is literally the point of an all-unit event. You can see that on the Superhuman numbers below.

Their sales growth for Hot Sauce was a combination of post-Resonance lift, which again all sub-units have seen, and a strong fanbase in Korea, built from previous releases who want a full album.

They're all doing great. Let's celebrate.

What's up with the assumptions? Nobody is saying the other group is a flop or whatever it is you're assuming. If you think that, you're really naive. Having both groups release a full album this year will result with them going head to head, and opens the door to comparisons whether you like it or not.

It's not a bad thing that more people became interested in them after Resonance so it's weird you're trying to argue that.

It's not but attributing everything they've achieved to RESONANCE is so weird too.

You took two of my points and put them together to make a completely different argument. Commenter 1 said NCT 127 had better physicals, which they do not, as per the data I posted. Better physicals would mean significantly better physicals, but they were pretty much on par with each other.

They are doing great, but one should be doing significantly better.

Just checked. Stray kids also have these cheap jewel case versions lol. I don't see TxT jewel case cheap versions through. All these new groups selling cheap versions to mediaplay sales. These are gonna look bad when touring restart.

  • It's not but attributing everything they've achieved to RESONANCE is so weird too

I just think your analysis is bad and you have no idea what your talking about. You really think, NCT 2020 finally breaking 1 million for NCT, then next year both units see CRAZY increase in sales, right after a 2 part comeback with an huge increase in sales, and you think it has nothing to do with NCT 2020?

I’m not discrediting 127 or Dreams work by themselves, but it’s pretty obvious to see they gained a lot of fans from NCT 2020, and normal groups don’t go from 600k to 2mil without anything in between. There sales growth makes more sense when you factor in that sold 1.4mil and 1.1mil with NCT 2020, then increased to 2 mil by themselves. Same with 127 going from 800k to 2mil. These are not normal increases and only make sense WITH CONTEXT OF NCT 2020 happening

Trying to divorce 127 or Dreams success from NCT 2020

  • I don't think its a dreamzen lol

They arent this obsessed with 127 supposedly needing to do better, probably 2nd fandom :eyes:
