What do you think of Kpop being considered a "safe space" by fans?

Kpop is legit a safe space. Even the most extreme trolls are very mild compared to the real world. It's sickening, actually. It's like a unicorn shit fairy dust everywhere.

I wouldn't consider it a safe space, more like a toxic space but that's just my viewpoint.

Kpop as a safe space is like thinking during an F1 race would be a good easy time to learn to drive lol.

I think it depends on the community. We don't even entirely have that here in our AKP global village, but we are trying.

Kpop fans feel safe on the internet and I understand why they do. Even trump supporters feel safe online.

from what I've seen AKP post revamp is a lot better than pre-revamp??? (correct me if I'm wrong) of course there's the occasional flare up and fanwar but generally speaking it's been pretty "safe"

The only 'safe-place' k-pop wise are those small review blogs I find on WordPress but even those can be raided by stans. Nothing in k-pop is safe imo

The music and the content, okay.

The community, terrible idea.

If you find the extremely rare wholesome group/forum it definitely can be but I also understand all the people saying "oh gosh no" because even then bad apples can and will show up. A small shawol group was my safe space once but nowadays we're all too busy adulting to really talk :sadface:

More safe, but still not entirely safe for sharing unpopular opinions. I'll will voice a perspective that goes against the grain because I don't have ill intentions, but I don't think that happens often enough especially if there are learning opportunities to try to understanding different perspectives.

I think KPOP is too broad of a term to just say it's a safe space.

Honestly, take away the toxicity of it all, and it’s a pretty calming place. Especially the guild I’m in. I feel the safest in there, as I’ve made the best of friends whom understand and listen to me just as I do for them. I also feel safe in the random thoughts thread. That’s like, my little rant space I guess you could say. And I also think it depends on where you spend most of your time? If you’re constantly engaging in drama, fanwars, etc, then it will definitely be a stressful experience for you. But if you’re engaging in actual conversations about kpop music itself, the groups you love, etc, then it’s a splendid time. It really just depends-

There are only two communities worse than kpop fans:

1. Football fans or sports fans in general

2. My Hero Academia fans

... i think no fandom is a safe space specially on social media as we use LOL

if they find comfort interacting w kpop on twitter and such... do they enjoy the utter madness???

Interesting you say that, considering that online it's pretty much the opposite.

I am guessing whoever is saying this is part of a small space of fans. That makes sense. The whole community is far from being a safe space.

But I guess if you curate your timeline and control what pops up to you, you can free yourself from the toxicity and enjoy the community
