New WayV sub-unit - Ten and Yangyang

  • We knew there was one coming when Ten and Yangyang have been talking nonstop about it and especially when Ten described Kun and Xiaojun as the ballad sub-unit, but Ten's been a busy dude! He's on promos rn for his solo track and then this news dropped tonight.

Ten is the main dancer of WayV and Yangyang is one of the leads so this is going to be a dance-intensive unit. Plus, Yangyang is one of the best rappers in NCT so I think this track is gonna be fire..

This is too much for 2 am, y'all

    :pepe-excited:

  • If you're not familiar with WayV songs, remember these two were also together on 90s Love on Resonance, which was a hell of a bop.

  • I agree that YangYang is one of the most vibey ones with more developmental rap potential on the NCT roster.

I hope NCT's team "reads the memo" on creating some long-term effective rap synergy with YangYang and Sungchan.

I think SME should get comfortable with the thought that their most popular members in NCT aren't always going to line up with being their best performing rappers.

I hope SME doesn't make the same mistake twice by neglicting, or even holding back, group members who have a lot of growth potential. SME could have had a second generation of rappers by now and some kind of practical knowledge if they would have listened and assessed more seriously several years ago.

  • yes, definitely to all of this - a Yangyang-Sungchan duo would be sooo good. We had that glimpse of how nicely it could work with Light Bulb on the Beyond Live where Yangyang was covering for Taeyong (and well) but their styles are really so compatible.

Yes, yes!! You're on my frequency with "Light Bulb"; YangYang and Sungchan with Kun singing the hook and the beat being EQ'ed to hit harder..now we are talking "milestone stuff" for SM! "Yang-Sun(g)" could easily spit over @@@fe1a1450-0fe4-42f3-bada-b9f77b5d4199@@@-2 polished up or quality curated tracks a year. One being YangYang's hottest and the other being from an outsourced producer. They have an opportunity to do right by not holding these guys with rap amplitude back. They should be allowed to grow and develop as "specialists". That would give SME their first generation of competent, and potentially d0pe, id0l rappers.

If SM insists on them being a part of another larger Rap sub-unit, I think it would be important to leave the "Pop bouys" out of that new unit. SME are spreading Taeyong, Mark, and Johnny way too thin and I think other (NCT-Juicy) guys should have an opportunity to add value to the "brand" in ways that SME hasn't been able to get consistently right in a couple areas (around showcasing smolzy and swaggy members and their auras; rapping, dancing, and beats) for "Pop bouy" associated NCT sub-units so far.

Man, I want your NCT-Juicy concept to happen so much.

  • I want to see SME win in a way that would be a good example of overcoming a challenging company weakness. I also can't take seeing people with talent and growth potential being "put on pause" or "slow-motioned" for several years.

YangYang has an innate feel for rap cadence. Lots of potential. The beat needs polish though. Like at :35-:48, the bass should still be booming enough to make you still bounce your neck. From :45 on, the beat suppose to go super hard and aggressive. With YangYang spiting crazy, it supposed to make you say, "DAAAANG!" because the energy is so epic high!

I heard a more recent track of YangYang's too. It's decent, it just needs tweaks and polish to get the track fully on point.
