It's very hard to judge art. Having a data-based award makes sure to avoid this issue, but this is not the song/album/group that is judged, it's just its success in numbers. Which I find a bit sad.
Am I the only one that prefers awards base 100% on data?

The problem with awards given basely on how well a groups does on album sales/digital points is that selling more or less is not synonymous with quality. And that kills the chance for smaller artists to get some recognition, which creates a monopoly of certain groups because they have the resources and reach to always get those higher numbers.

They should have an awards show with me being the sole judge 100% and let me give out the prizes

What else can it be based on?

A jury. Like the Academy Awards for movies.

Ooh yeah I agree with that. That way songs with good quality can win regardless of the artist's popularity. But then that also means we need the jury to be fair and not biased.

Or like the Grammys for songs

Quality is subjective so the only objective way to judge is through numbers(more sales and more streams mean more people enjoyed it). It's not 100% foolproof but it's the best way we have. Numbers are simple and easy to compare.

If it is based 100% on data, why is the award even needed, the chartss make it obvious.
Secondly, data is problematic as well.
Take physical sales, it represents the brand loyalty of the fandom than an indicator of the quality of the song. As well have an award called "Best Fandom Loyalty Earnings".
Streaming as well is impacted by that dynamic, though to a lesser extent than Physicals.
And then the perenniel issue of awards entrenching already successful acts, becoming an obstacle for the evolution of the art.
So better would be to have better defined categories but fewer awards.
