B. I hate it whenever scenario A happens.

music is the most important to me so option 2, however, if the group hasnt had a hit or real success yet I would be happy with the first for their sake - one cb wont make me leave, bsides exist for a reason lol

B for sure. The A scenario would mean my faves would get more exposure and chart success which would make me really happy for them, but ultimately I stan them for the music so B all the way.

Definitely B. I'm not gonna sit here and say charting is irrelevant but records are meant to be broken. I'll be happy but forget about their achievements. However a song I can cherish forever is worth more to me.

I would want B mostly.

I can definitely see the argument for A, it would help bring more attention to the group and help them succeed or even survive in some cases. One cb that I do not like won't turn me away as a fan especially if they have a good back catalog. But i won't enjoy that since I don't like the song and I'll have to see it being performed everywhere.

How does anyone who is genuinely a fan of their fav's music pick a song they don't like and never will like over a song they love?

I suppose if the group is on the brink of disbanding, a hit song could be their saving grace. It's only for one comeback and the rest presumably would be good. That's the only scenario that would make any sense.

My favs are not in that position where the success of their next comeback could make or break them.

It’s obviously B. I didn’t join kpop so I can stan a group due to chart success lmao. The experience of listening to music you love and cherish >>>>>>>> a song that sucks and tops the charts.

Also option A could also mean the company will keep rehashing the same sound and formula for my favs and that would be my worst case scenario (potentially making me wanna quit stanning them). Quality Music will always be the highest priority unless you’re a company/success stan then by all means you do you lol

I just think that if they get a chart topper with a song I don't like they'll think most fans like that song and they'll keep making songs like that. Which no.

I would love for my faves to be successful. But if they make music I don't like I will simply not listen to it. It would be an inexistent comeback to me. So, of course B. There's enough shitty songs in the Top 50 of my country, I don't need my favorite artists to join them.

A song that I don't like but that becomes mega popular is something that I'd want for my biases, since I know increased success and popularity will make them happy and feel validation for their many years of trainee hardship and their choice of following their dream and become an idol.

A song that surprises and/or entertains me, would be a choice for myself, because I'd rather have songs that I genuinely love and enjoy than one that's just mega successful.

So that's a tough one:

Option A, I'd choose with my biases' wellbeing and happiness first in my heart

Option B, I'd choose that one purely for me, with my own musical enjoyment first in my heart

depends on where a group is at, I can handle a song i hate if it's a breakout moment for them but I would prefer a song I love to good charting.

Off-topic: A commercial title track and quality B-sides would be an acceptable compromise. It's more of a problem for Western artists since they promote almost the whole album as singles. But since K-pop only promotes 1 or 2 as singles, it's easier to do.

I'd prefer B.
