What JYP is Doing is the Smartest Option

  • Many knetz are calling JYP "shameless" and saying they'll boycott JYP by still having Lia promote, but honestly, if their stance is that Lia is innocent, and no evidence has been revealed yet, continuing with her promotions is the only way to go. Lia hiding from the public would only indicate guilt, so no matter how much those who believe in her accusations hate seeing her out there smiling, it's the only thing for her to do.

I still don't know who is telling the truth in this situation (nobody knows except Lia and the alleged victim) I think until this whole thing is sorted out and the truth is revealed, Lia mustn't hide.

  • I agree. Having her take a hiatus will just show she’s guilty and losing the defamation case made people assume she is in fact a bully. Her promoting is her proving she’s innocent but we won’t know till the court hearing.

k-netz though need to put their pitchforks down because if Lia ends up being innocent they will look like hypocrites attacking her and will probably be sued by JYPe. It’s why staying neutral in some instances is better instead of condemning the accuser since we don’t know what happened and there’s been no evidence either.

  • Yet another bullying nonsense.

Bullying a very difficult thing to establish, unless there is physical hurt or evidence - otherwise it is all 'he said, she said' and Lia (or other celebrities) will be damaged more than the unknown victims, who stand to gain.

Even if true, the mistakes of teenagers are not reasons to cancel their careers. General Bullying is something which people can grow out of, as they mature, an apology and mature behavior should be enough.

It is increasingly looking to be like the American-Woke-Cancel culture - Witch hunt. People, including celebrities should have space to make some mistakes (not crimes) and evolve, without such harsh backlashes.

Even religious saints of many religions have not so-good pasts, and the expectation that teenagers in a consumer industry should have flawless past, is utter nonsense. Stifling.

Bullying is a social issue to be addressed at the appropriate age by parents and school authorities. It is not something to carry over and haunt people's reputation, when mostly they grow out of it.

I almost wish this allegation is true of Lia, she apologizes and JYP stands by her, kpop stands by her.

    I agree.

What happened to Hyunjin is disgusting and JYP better step up and stop letting his artists get shamed and belittled like this. I find it hard to imagine that this ridiculous treatment of idols doesn't do permanent damage. It's far more harmful and reflective of large scale bullying than common middle school contention and competitiveness. This is absolutely cancel culture but worse and it needs to stop. If it wasn't addressed by teachers, parents, principle etc, at the time it happened, then it's on the adults and obviously didn't warrant being escalated.

We all know that this industry is extremely cut throat and that idols are exploited by these big companies so it's rich seeing said companies letting their idols get eaten alive by this bullshit. Shame on CLIO and JYP. Turn the mirror on yourselves knetizens.

Well it is true of most companies nowadays, they hire models who are perfect - physically, ethically etc. etc. - so that nobody questions whether the company, its products, processes, profits are ethical or not.

People are supposed to look at the model and decide the company is good based on that.

So never mind that the company is a sewer of unethical exploitative or even illegal activity, the model has to be pristinely perfect, that is the expected hypocrisy.

And as to Kpop companies, well they groom such models - branding/image is what they sell.

Art- music is just an excuse.

They make far more money by selling the artist-image, than by selling songs, albums etc.

Unfortunately very few artists escape the trap and they enter it full knowing its nature, because if you hit the lottery of fame.. well.

Britney Spears is fighting her conservatorship, but she is an exception to be thus controlled in the West. Whereas with Kpop, basically every idol is under such "conservatorship" and discarded easily.
