water is wet .
BTS is the only true global act
Any method of research proves this. Charts, surveys.

The more curious thing is the actual gap. Except for asia, other kpop idols are inexistant which kpoppies want desperately to deny (psy isn't an idol)
The way Psy did it back in ancient times of 2nd gen when MVs were sent by carrier pigeons and fanwars were carried out by writing on parchment

Lee MinHo’s still a monster of k-dramas in the global scene. Boys Over Flowers was huge back in its day. I thought Hyun Bin, Gong Yoo or Park Seojoon would’ve overtaken him by now but man’s got lasting impact.
Display MoreOk I just read the report. It looks like globally this sums it up.
BTS is almost as big as the other 4 combined
Same ratio as based on other metrics.
Lee Min Ho really lucked out because his actor is average and about 70% of his dramas are hot garbage!
Was just about to comment on it. That's the biggest wtf on this map. Why the hell is he this popular? His acting is bellow avarage and his series are bellow avarage (tho i liked legend of the blue sea but all the credits go to jun ji hyn). I know it's irrelevant but i don't even find him good looking but i'm aware many like his looks.
The only reasonable explanation is that people only watched two kdrama total and in both he was the lead.
How is PSY still so popular ? I mean, I guess it makes sense, this is the korean song that the GP ate up.
For the people surprised about Lee Min-ho, I'm 100% certain that this is because of Boys Over Flowers. This drama is massive, even people who don't watch dramas watched this one. It was definitely my first one and I STILL REMEMBER THE SOUNDTRACK ( even though I personally fell for Kim Bum )

Its not that Psy is that popular, its mostly that the rest of kpop is that unpopular.
Gangnam style was a global viral hit and people still remember that more than any current kpop group other than BTS.

I thought Gong Yoo is more popular in Asia. 🤔
Apprently not. Noone can beat Lee Min Ho

He's just everywhere and his films are popular. I thought he'd be #1 or 2. I haven't even seen Lee Min Ho on-screen, but I don't watch k-dramas.

For what it’s worth, I’ve seen more Lee Minho CFs here than Gong Yoo’s. Gong Yoo is famous for Train to Busan and Goblin (my favourite k-drama) but Boys Over Flowers was one of THE biggest k-dramas during the Hallyu Wave in the late 2000s, which also spurred the flower boy trend back then. Its OST was iconic and my mom’s obsessed with it along with every other adaptation of Hana Yori Dango.
Just recently, Lee Minho featured in our Lazada (e-commerce platform) CF that played everywhere, so he’s still a recognizable name here.

Lee Min Ho is huge in kdramas. Actors are more known for dramas than films, I think.
We love a Global Girl Group and this is just the beginning for Blackpink
Most likely it's not that PSY is popular, but that K-Pop isn't as widespread as people here like to believe.
Most likely, their interview would be asking people something like what Korean singer do you know? And for people in most country, they probably wouldn't be able to name anyone besides PSY because that's the only K-Pop song that truly went mainstream everywhere.
