  • I think the target audience and the language do make what kind of song it is. If the song is sung in primarily Japanese then it is a Japanese Pop song or JPOP. The original version only. If it was in Chinese but then translated into Japanese or Korean than it is a Japanese/Korean cover of the Chinese (CPOP) song. Regardless of who it came from.

As far as the group it depends who there target audience usually is. So it is entirely possible for a KPOP group to release a JPOP song. Now people do talk about style but style changes and flows back and forth. RAP as a style that first existed primarily I believe in the US but has since been amalgamated through the world. BUT RAP is still RAP not US RAP, or Korean RAP it is simply RAP as a style. What makes Korean/Japanese/Chinese RAP is the language. The language being spoken is what is differentiating it from one form or the other of the same style. When a rap artist comes from Japan and primarily sings in Japan and goes to the states they are called Japanese Rappers. If they come from Korea then Korean Rappers.

So yes that song is a KPOP song and sung by a JPOP group. I kind of believe in Occam's Razor were it can be applied in most cases.

  • It depends on the person, but for example many jpop fans consider that the Japanese releases of Korean groups are still K-pop, I have never seen someone say that the Japanese songs of BTS or SVT are jpop.

Jpop is Johnny's, LDH, 48/46, HP, or soloists like Kenshi, Aimyon, Gen or Utada
