I feel like some groups aren't being talked about as others, despite being at a same level of popularity at one point of time. 2pm was famous famous, especially in the international fandom with Taecyeon and Nickhyun but I don't see a ton of people talking about the group(?). I've only read about them on here when people were speculating about Jay Park. 2am too in a way. Also going to add Secret as Sunwha and Hyosung were fairly popular at one point of time, but they've been kinda forgotten now. I think out of all the new groups, something similar is going on with Gfriend (it may just be the natural trajectory of the group) because they were super popular at one point and were on varieties, had pretty popular songs..etc. Once the hate over Umji's looks died down and the concept change happened, I don't see as many Buddies anymore ://// Does anyone have a theory why? Am I just overthinking?
Why do people forget some groups? Are some groups forgettable?

I think we all know them except we don't talk about them simply because we never stanned or were interested in them.

they forget 2ne1 and missA
Agree agree. 2ne1 was a bit later so I can kinda see why some people could forget them, but 2ne1 was super popular overseas so I don't see that as much. Fire was a big hit along with many of their songs right off the bat. Miss A is an interesting case. Most of the time people know them for Suzy or at most, Bad Girl Good Girl but they were pretty popular~

Kpop doesn't exactly encourage sustainability of groups. An oversaturated market with neck to neck competition hardly allows most stans time to reminiscence. People can make an argument for records but even they will be replaced by younger groups same with popularity with the gp.

Really? That's good to hear, but I think in the future, newer stans may not know Gfriend as well as other groups with the same/similar level of accomplishments
Oh, I see

What makes you think that? concept?

Most of this groups disbanded or are in hiatus, what are people even supposed to talk about them when most last promoted is like 5 years ago. Secret was popular in 2010-2012 but their last comeback was in 2014, almost 7 years ago, most of the members even left their company.
2PM's last comeback was also almost 5 years ago.

Their concepts (sexy after retro )has changed cause big hit buy source source music so the girls look lost and underrated by non fans

I think that was kind of what I was trying to say, because 2ne1 also disbanded, and Kara, and 9Muses and all those groups, but a lot of groups that did as good as Secret (that are disbanded) are better known among the gp/kpop fans than Secret themselves, even though they had it-girls. I think the sexy concept is also kind of short-lived which added to that.

I think they suit their new concept but I think the fanbase has decreased, but that's natural for a group, as sad as it sounds. They had their peak with their clear sound, and with their fanbase, they transitioned to other concepts.

Just shows that kpop is all about "the now". Only thing that matters is the present. Not the past or the future.
Also shows how kpop is not general public entertainment. No matter how big a group was, once it disbands the fans also move on and that leaves no one to talk about them anymore.
