Have K Dramas been surpassed by C Dramas?

  • I think C Dramas have officially overtook K Dramas as the worlds favorite form of Asian entertainment.

  • I dunno, but I'm sick of watching Kdramas (except for a very select few).

I find modern Cdramas more refreshing, relatable and down -to-earth.

And K-saeguk pales compared to its Chinese counterpart.

That happened for me with JDramas long ago but now I watch some.

I tried to watch some CDramas but the ones I watched were so bad, not because of the story but the actors were just plain bad, at first I thought it was intentional but after a while I realized they just couldn't act.

Maybe you can recommend some dramas. I watch mosty romcom and some mystery and crime

  • Most definitely not.

C-dramas international popularity stems from the niche of "boy-love" dramas (or adaptations of) which are for a particular demographic as South Korea doesn't dabble in that.

  • Nope.

I watched some, but they are heavily full of some nonsense/stupid dialogues and scenes, the plots aren't well written, you can watch it just because of main couple, I skipped many parts. Plus I've never seen different genres, like it's always romantic cdramas

what do you find more refreshing? i watched many and i find them cliche, predictable, unnecessarily long, and unlike you i find them unrelatable. i'm not attacking you for your opinion, i'm interesting in hearing it because our opinions couldn't be more different :)

yeah rom com, family kdramas are cliche but crime/thriller kdramas are still good and refreshing

The voice, Save Me, Hell is other people etc

modern cdramas are nah it's still cliche, wuxia are interesting but so much bad acting & poor CGI, only chinese historical dramas with no fanstasy are decent but there are only few that are good like Nirvana In Fire

i wonder what makes u prefer chinese dramas :whatb:

I'll try it, when I'm done with my dramas atm, and tell you if I liked it 8)

  • well I've only ever seen C dramas so i cannot compare but i will say that a lot of them are trash...

the best ones are always based on historical events where they have "old established" actors and actresses for the main roles...or ones involving detailed complicated story lines like jinaland mentioned with nirvana in fire

  • That happened for me with JDramas long ago but now I watch some.

You didn't like 10 miles of peach blossom? Which modern cdramas you find cliched? If Wanna avoid that, tbh.

Yeah, Empresses in the Palace off the top of my head is sooo good. Of course, Nirvana in Fire too.

For modern Cdramas, Put your head on my shoulders is really cute. Also, I find their slice of life dramas really good. But that's just me.
