With so much hype it was doomed. Obviously some wanted happy ending some wanted a dark ending, and it turned out to be somewhere in the middle and both sides are pissed af. Did yall read?

This is a happy ending which was supposed to be a wishful thought for this manga. Isayama mentioned multiple times that he wanted to end with everyone dying or have a dark ending like in the movie The Mist (2007).
"With no means of escaping the mist, the resigned group members decide to end their lives. David shoots Billy and the other three survivors with his four remaining bullets before leaving the car to be taken by the creatures. The mist suddenly dissipates, revealing that the United States Army has arrived and is in the process of exterminating the creatures and restoring order. Personally, I like that it's a happy ending but there was a lot of themes put for the finale without explanation aka not enough storytelling. Keep in mind the manga was probably rushed, this type of shit happens to a lot of shonen manga.
