I’m all up for prioritizing hair/scalp health but I miss the days idols changed their hair color/styles different eras! Even if they wear wigs bring back the fun/creative transformations

IVE, NJz ,Gidle and aespa did change hairstyles/colors but it was usually 1 member only or 2 max or not for the whole era/comeback! And 5th gen is way worse and very boring/uncreative with their image

Yes, specially RV, they went beyond to give iconic visuals!!
K-pop was fun, now it's so focused in "looking beautiful and perfect" all the time, which obviously the companies are to blame, that they don't let idols have "personality" identities!
Edit: that's why I think njz got so big, their aesthetic felt unique in this gen.

Omg you’re right! I completely forgot Lsfm! They’re really consistent switching up their looks each comeback too I still think they’re an exception though also I originally meant more towards 5th gen! The only 5th gen (girl groups) I can think of that switch up their looks for different eras are Baemon, KiiiKiii and H2H

I think it just a cultural things and not limited to kpop
The culture is currently pushing for the natural/ clean girl aesthetic where the very neutral makeup/ natural hair color etc...is push
And groups like Newjeans, ILLIT etc.... Are a groups that really show how the clean girl era end up touching the kpop world
Leading to group with more over the top styling like Red velvet, mamamoo becoming more and more rare
Also you can feel this impact of the clean girl era etc...even impacting the KPOP MV that used to be very distinctive
In the past they were vibrant, very over the top, very saturated, etc...
Now the color are much more neutral and basic
For this you just have to compare pre-covid to MV now
Like Black mamba or savage had vibrant color
And now their 2 last comeback were much more neutral in color

It does seem they're playing it safe in regards to 5th gen.It seems most are going with dark hair and maybe an idol or 2 with coloured hair. I'm suprised less popular groups aren't exploring more styles. I think a smaller group that did something interesting was Fifty Fifty with Pookie because they seemed to test different hair styles with that comeback
Maybe now that 5th gen is gaining traction we'll see groups explore more hairstyles. I think now is the perfect time to get signature looks and moments when all eyes will be on 5th gen groups.
