Do you think Katseye will get NewJeansified?

  • So the new survival show for Prelude HxG’s upcoming global girl group is starting in a few days, and they are looking for a Japanese member to complete the lineup.

Honestly, after reading all the Twitter gossip about Katseye, it's quite interesting and entertaining.

A lot of their fans said Lexie was Bang’s favorite during Dream Academy, but she withdrew before the final lineup was formed. Emily was also one of the judges’ favorites. Some fans believe Hybe initially leaned more toward Samara than Manon, and that things only shifted after Samara faced backlash for liking pro Israel and racist content on Tiktok.

Basically, some of their fans are saying that this new lineup fits Bang and Hybe’s vision more than the current Katseye lineup. Not like it's not weird enough already when they want to debuting the eliminated trainees.

What is making fans spiral even more is that Manon went on hiatus around the same time this new survival show is about to start. Since it also likely means the soft marketing for the new group will begin, it is hard for some fans to see it as a coincidence. Kinda like the chaos is intended.

Because of all that, some people think Katseye might not have been meant to be Hybe’s main global girl group, but more of an experiment before debuting the real one later, especially based on the type of songs they have been given.

In hybe terms, many thought they're potentially get Newjeansified.

    # Personally, I don’t think so. Katseye is doing extremely well and is already under Bang’s control, so there’s no reason to do that. But it’s always fun to read fan theories.

  • Obviously, when people said Katseye get newjeansified isn’t really what’s happening to Nj now, bc well that is just extreme. And of course not even anything near that.

It’s more like the group is being used as an experiment. Their strategy is probably being used for the new gg, and their full potential will likely be held back once the new group debuts. They’re not the favourite and will likely being sidelined in favor of the new group.

  • It's Kpop-ified and not Newjeansified. The new group will be pushed, and the old one will be shelved. The cycle will just repeat itself again, but with HYBE, it seems to be much shorter.

  • They did the same with Enhypen and that other boy group &Team. Both from the same show except Enhypen promotes more in S. Korea and the other boy group promotes more in Japan. Only later did they have a debut in Korea and I think it's because they weren't doing well in Japan.

So they're specifically looking for a JAPANESE member for a reason.
