Her only competition would be Jennie, and I think Lisa edges her on talent and international popularity. Jennie is certainly more popular in Korea, being that Lisa is Thai, but I just feel Lisa carried BP more internationally and is more iconic. I think Jennie has had a better solo career music wise, but it could be a toss-up there as well.
Will Lisa go down as the greates 3rd Gen female Idol?

had she been born Korean, maybe. but then she would not be Lalisa.
I'd agree that she's the one with the most international appeal among the members so she definitely played a large role in that. There are other great idol rappers as well but for me personally she has always come off as the most "authentic" rapper among idols, or at least as authentic as idol rappers can be. Think that helps with her Western appeal.

I think her being a foreigner makes her even more iconic. I'm not a big fan of rap in kpop, but I agree, her flow and cadence felt more "authentic." Her dancing and overall charisma, though, elevated the game compared to 2nd gen in a big way.

It helps her internationally I think but Im pretty sure it hurts her in SK, no? Like her music doesn't chart at all there afaik.

popularity =/= greatness

One could say that actually, if they value vocals or the ability to perform without lip syncing. She leaves a lot to be desired in both those areas. She's a great dancer but not the best of 3rd gen.

It's been proven time and time again that an idol's job is not to sing great; I hate that fact, but it is what it is. In that case, someone like Jihyo would be a greater idol. BP took over the world with a catalog of 25 songs, most of which I do not care for, but that's the standard mainstream fans have set.

I think it’s Jennie over Lisa.
Even though 3rd gen seems a long time ago, they are still shaping their respective legacies with their solo work currently and Jennie’s stands head and shoulders above Lisa’s.
Jennie is the closest thing we’ve had to a 2nd Lee Hyori, and Lee Hyori is without a doubt for me the greatest female Kpop idol of all time.

She's not even the greatest in her own group lmao.

She said she wants to try something new, but versatility might not be her strongest area.
Having a clear brand identity helps avoid confusing people about what you’re offering.
Trying to do too many things at once can sometimes lead to a lack of direction.
For someone with such a major spotlight in the K-pop industry, she seems to underestimate the importance of self-branding and how it shapes public perception.
To conclude, change your producers and marketing team, baby… they suck AF

Lol.
We finally agree on something.😂

Taeyeon and Hwasa be like:

Jennie can't even beat Hwasa. How can Lisa be the greatest or Jennie be the next Lee Hyori LOL?🤣
Dont let David see this thread!
Pants WILL be pooped!
I'm having a lot of fun actually. 🤣

I mean, just because she's a popular Idol doesn't mean she's the richest too.
-
I mean if she was literally the same person but her nationality was Korean, she'd probably be competing with Jennie for the IT girl title.
Maybe she would lose some support elsewhere but I still think she'd just be even bigger.

I never understood this excuse.
Like, let's not act as if Rose, not to mention Jisoo are dominating Korean Charts. What's their excuse? Other than 1 song Rose hasn't had a massive success, and Jisoo is not even close to Rose even if we exclude "APT".
Rose:
"OTG" TOP100 peak: #67 / Real-Time: #1
"APT": #1
"Number One Girl: #21
Jisoo:
"Flower": #1
"Earthqueke": #60
I mean, Rose is decent but not as a member of the biggest gg of the past 10 years. Jisoo's next release is going to be interesting.
So, yeah, it's not about nationality, at least that's not the main reason. 99% of soloists can't do anything on the charts, regardless of nationality or gender.
-
No one, because there can be only one Lee Hyori.
The only thing I can say is that Hyori herself put Hwasa on a pedestal. I mean, she could've worked with any other female Idol, but she chose Hwasa for their collab group "Refund Sisters", not to mention "Dancing Queens on the Road" with Hyori, Uhm Junghwa, Kim Wansun, and BoA.
I think this speaks volumes. It doesn't matter what I think, it's enough to listen to what she said.
-
Just want to say that Rosé has OTG that is a hit, in the time of release had several records, some that just apt broke and peaked quite high on kr charts, not #67.
And Toxic till the end is still stable at kr charts at top 30 and doing good numbers:

Let's not expect her to have another hit like this when we know it's not easy. And let's not act like her career is just APT when she was doing crazy numbers with OTG and her album is doing amazing, with TTTE being a longevity queen!

Let's be real, everyone, without Lisa, BP would have been another IVE—just wonyoung and friends. The group would have done ok in SK, but nowhere near the success they ultimately had because of Lisa.
Lisa did it against all odds, a young Thai girl in a cutthroat industry, dragged BP to greatness through pure talent and charisma, and that's why she's the greatest.

99% of soloists are not the most popular member of the most popular GG ever David.
The thing is, BPs members individual chart performance is pretty equivalent the members individual popularity. Except Lisa, who doesn't chart at all.
Look im not gonna die on this hill but yea I don't think it's really up for debate whether or not Lisa's nationality has an effect on her ability to chart in SK. Is it the biggest factor? Idk but it makes me think it is since her songs did do pretty well everywhere else but couldn't even crack top 100 on melon. Maybe it's not but it's still a factor

I mean, just because she's a popular Idol doesn't mean she's the richest too.
According to media sources and also AI sources, she is now the richest 3rd-gen KPOP female idol.
-

I'm sorry but what?
2NE1, SNSD, Bigbang are literally the 3 biggest groups of the entire Kpop scene of All-Time yet all 3 groups only have 1 successful soloist for longer than 5 years. If we include BTS and Blackpink too, the stats are even worse.
Show me more than 2 members of BTS and Blackpink with chart-dominating careers. IN KOREA, obviously. I don't think even BTS has more than 3 members who dominate Korean Charts.
This is why I think nationality doesn't matter. Fandoms (doesn't matter how big it is) can't carry your career for long. Charting is mainly about the power of the general public.
Hwasa is the prime example of that. Teh same goes for IU. She isn't dominating the industry for almost 16 years because she has a massive fandom. She can do it because most people in Korea are obsessed with her regardless of age or gender.
99% of Idols can't say the same, doesn't matter how popular they are. They have limitions, they have a target audience.
QuoteThe thing is, BPs members individual chart performance is pretty equivalent the members individual popularity. Except Lisa, who doesn't chart at all.
Not true. If what you're saying is true, it means Jisoo is not popular? Like, out of her 3 songs (okay 1 is just a western collab that Koreans usually hate), she had 1 success so far.
QuoteLook im not gonna die on this hill but yea I don't think it's really up for debate whether or not Lisa's nationality has an effect on her ability to chart in SK. Is it the biggest factor? "LALISA" peaked #32 on TOP100, that's her most successful song in Korea. I don't want to make assumptions, but I'm almost 100% sure the main reason their debut songs were successful because they were still under YG.
I mean, Rose's career proves my point, because she's under TBL and most people still think Teddy equals YG.
That's why nationality and being the member of "the bigges gg" doesn't matter on charts.

When she released "OTG" TOP100 was not a thing, that's why I added Real-Time Chart where she was #1.
"APT" is not bigger than Kpop. Let's not get carried away.😂
Hwasa literally broke every record that any other soloist or even groups set before her. The only song that is above "Good Goodbye" is "GOLDEN", but I won't include that in this conversation because it's a song by a fictional group.
It's obvious Rose is not going to have another "APT" success, only idiots expect her to do that every year. Successes like that are mostly about timing and luck. Even if people don't want to accept it, Bruno had a massive part in that success too. No wonder they want to release another collab.
To be honest, I don't think that's a good idea, because if it's not gonna be a success, the shit storm will come soon.
Also, let's not forget the fact that before "APT", no one else achieved a Perfect All-Kill from the 3rd gen other than Hwasa.
That's why this thread is basically a set-up.
