Why Starshit launched an IVE comeback while Kiiikiii is finally having its time is another screwup of that company

  • Kiiikiii's 404 did surprisingly well, and it became the first gg debuting in 2025 to score daily #1 in melon, ahead of H2H, Izna, etc.

Instead of celebrating Kiiikiii's success, Seo Hyunju, who runs Starshit, decided to launch a comeback of IVE.

Why Ms. Seo decided to make IVE and Kiiikiii is only known to her, but I do not think it is a wise move.

    ====

Kiiikiii getting ahead of H2H is a major event, comparable to GFriend whipping Twice whenever possible in 2015 and 2016.

However, Starshit is undermining its own success by making its own acts fight against each other.

I have never seen anything like that. Hybe sometimes made its boy and girl groups fight each other but at least they were under different labels.

Starshit is making its own girl groups fight against each other.

I do not know what to make of it. Simply ridiculous.

  • I'm pretty sure SS was planning on releasing an IVE comeback way before they knew KiiiKiii's song was a hit

I mean isn't WJSN also coming back at the end of this month

It almost looks like Seo is living her company since she has to make every GG she has come back in a close succession

But it did create a situation which has made IVE and Kiiikiii hard to coexist

I've said before that I have a theory that a junior group in a company will find it hard to truly rise to the next level if there exists an active senior within the same company

and this is even harder for someone like KK since IVE is not just around but thriving

  • really? three GG coming back within the same couple of months????

I don't think I've seen this happen before in another company - do you examples my friend?

SM did this 2 years ago

November 10 - Drama - Aespa (Extended play)

November 13 - Chill Kill - Red Velvet (Studio album)

    November 27 - To. X - Taeyeon (Extended play)

I think the above is much worse because IVE song is just a pre-release. SM didn't really give RV a proper chance to have their own space against SM's newer group at the time that was reaching their peak.

  • noted but would you say that this kind of thing is uncommon though

since your original post made it seem like it happens quite often????

True, there's usually not a 3rd because its uncommon to have 3 active female acts. I was going for along the line of both male and female acts. I think that happens quite a bit but I guess 2 different markets, so it doesn't matter much

  • That was , for all practical purposes, a pink slip to RV which has mostly left SM.

    Nmixx - Sonar (single), 4th December, 2023

Itzy - Born to Be (album), 8th January, 2024

    Nmixx - FE3O4: Break (ep), 15th January, 2024

Vcha - Girls of the Year (single), 26th January, 2024

    Twice - I Got You (single), 2nd February, 2024

    Twice - With You-Th (EP), 23rd February, 2024

Vcha - Only One (single), 5th March, 2024

I think Vcha also released their single Sweet Nonfiction in March.

Last year, the Twice camp alone released This Is For in July, Enemy in August, Chaeyoung's solo album in September, then Ten in October.

All of which are technically full albums lmao

Nmixx's Blue Valentine album came out 3 days after Ten.

Bookending all of that was Itzy's EPs in June and November. Along with a NiziU album in November as well.

Meaning that JYPE girlgroups released something every month for six months.

  • Vcha, or whatever its current name is, does not compete with Twice or NMixx
