As time changes in kpop, the kinds of music people prefer naturally change as well. Right now, a very specific type of sound is favored, and the door seems to have closed on what we’d call girl crush or teen crush songs. Looking at hit songs in general, I don’t think BABYMONSTER will release a song that becomes a hit in Korea, especially.

When it comes to global charts, though, I’m not so sure. For example, Sheesh performed much better globally than it did in Korea, whereas Famous was a hit in Korea but didn’t have the same impact internationally.

It also feels like the company isn’t prioritizing their domestic performance, since baemon is already generating the expected profit. It’s worth noting that more than half of their most recent title ( I mean We go up lyriss) track was in English, which makes it seem like the company is approaching the group primarily as a profit-driven project.

Maybe it could happen with strong promotions in Korea and the virality of a mid-level song, but I doubt it. babymonster’s title tracks feel somewhat outdated to many listeners.

I think Kiiikiii did an amazing job on the charts, but I don’t think they’ll be the only group. ILLIT and H2H also make music that is well received by the general public. So I don’t think the only hit will come from Kiiikiii. We’ll probably see hits from ILLIT and H2H this year as well. I think Kiiikiii has shown signs that the 5th generation is coming in strong.

It most likely won't happen but I'm going to root for the underdog. I think they need to time their release right because timing is everything in pop music.

This might sting for the baemon fans, but I think as more songs have come out the less interesting they seem overall as a group. To begin with there was an anticipation around them, they are YG's gen 5 group after all, but nowadays I no longer expect to be surprised or wowed when they come out with a new song. It's all old hat, and they lack the charisma and star power of 2NE1 and BP to be able to captivate me in the same way.

Because they've been there for a while and still no hit. The things with GP is that if you don't have the freshness or established reputation, they won't listen to you. BM doesn't have both: they are fairly popular with many people know about, but also not being a household name.

If we mean nr1? No, I don't think so, even if I would be happy if the did a really hit this year. But I kind of doubt it, feels like maybe the first years of new and fresh have past and they risk to end up in the "just below the top" spot.

In 2026 Im uncertain but at some point, yes

I think whether a lot of 5th gen (BM, H2H, Meovv, Izna, KiiiKiii, AtHeart etc) manages to get hits this year depends on several factors imo

How busy is the comeback period? Are there popular/house hold groups coming back the same period or is it an empty house? Will there be newer/fresh debuts this year that might have an explosive debut such as ADP and Illit (that will surely take a lot of the attention!)

Specifically for BM what sound will they comeback with currently BM are amongst the worst charting GG for 5th gen top GGs! They struggle breaking into top 100 on most charts and it’s only made worse that they’re the next gg after BP a digital monster! It’s not impossible for them as they’ve charted quite highly before, YG just needs to do more research into what the public enjoys from them then dive into it!

I also think Rami’s return will gather public interest and anticipation! The group is complete again pair this with a sound the public enjoys and I see no reason why BM won’t achieve a smash hit

One things for sure BM has the visuals/talent/support and performance ability to be a big/top group in kpop overall

It's not all blind faith, if they release the right song it can happen but if they release another Hot Sauce or We Go Up then its not happening. They aren't Aespa, they can't make something like Rich Man chart.
