Kiiikiii and Ive clearly have very different comeback budgets, and I just don’t get Starship

  • If I didn’t know better, I would have thought it’s Kiiikiii that brings in all the money for the company, while Ive is just there as extra figures and accessories to be added in front of the stakeholders. From the aesthetic and marketing to the whole effort for their comeback, it all seems very half-hearted. I just don’t understand how Starship works, to be honest.

  • It makes perfect sense because IVE is already established and kiiikiii is not. As a company it makes sense to make an early investment and hope it pays off. ive contract expires in 2 years, so they have to prepare for a future without ive. There's not guarantee that they extend, so I understand why Starship is making a strong push for the group.

Kiiikiii are rookies that need the investment to grow, nothing wrong here.

Ive are senior already doing great like really great to the point of still being the STAR in the company so I understand Starship trying some more with Kiiikiii.. Ive is just too powerful.

The thing is, Ive has never received a massive budget since their debut. I understand that the company wants to push Kiiikiii, but my biggest question is, why don’t they do the same for Ive? Ive is their money maker, so shouldn’t the company try to please the fandom and the members themselves, especially with the renewal coming up? Ive is just like Idle, and we all know how Cube literally bend over to the girls because they're the biggest cash cow that company ever had. These two things could happen simultaneously. Push the newer act yet still respecting the one that put food to the table.

I’m not questioning why Kiiikiii gets a big budget, I’m questioning why Ive didn’t get the same efforts since their debut. This is where I question Starship’s management.

I think the answer is that IVE's fanbase is already established and there's no more growth in the Asia region imo. I think the only growth they can see is outside of Asia, but unsure if IVE music appeals to the western and latin markets. So, I can see why they don't spend give them a high budget because itw ill give them worse margins.

Renewal for the group is interesting because I think everything all depends on Wonyoung and Yujin. I could see them possibly pursuing acting which could put IVE in a tough spot. However, I think it's too early to worry about that possible future.

As for Idle, they actually didn't push the newer group in waiting and put their resources into I-DLE. I think Cube is on the opposite side of that because they don't have any group in waiting if Idle is on the decline, but Starship has positioned themselves for a possible future of Ive declining or disbanding. So, it makes perfect sense why they have to invest while they can because the gamble could work out for them.

  • Companies spend money to build up the brand the first years, than they try to cash in on what they have build. Not that strange, even if IVE is not that old yet they are still more than halfway along their contract period.

  • I actually think the promotional effort for IVE’s comeback has been great. Those teasers are some of the most exciting I’ve seen recently. Say what you will, but Starship does a great job with building anticipation for IVE’s comebacks.

IVE is also more established than KiiiKiii. All we really needed was a teaser video of Wonyoung walking in high heels, and people already started talking. At this point, Wonyoung’s reputation speaks for itself.

  • most kpop groups that have juniors and seniors rely upon money that the senior makes in order to fund the juniors debut or comeback - it's the kpop circle of life

now I dunno if IVE comebacks are less money and less budgeted but maybe there is a reason for that and maybe it is just starship being shit

there is a theory that the less budget there is for aesthetics and MVs etc etc that there is thus more money to share between the members themselves since all expenses must be paid before the group sees a cent
