A small business owner who runs a clothing sample studio has spoken out, claiming that an entertainment company has failed to pay idol costume production fees for several months.

On the 21st, the informant, identified as A, said, “My parents operate a clothing sample studio,” and explained, “On October 28 last year, we received a request from an (agency) to produce idol costumes. We completed the production and delivered the final items on December 9.”

The idol in question wore the outfits made by A’s parents while filming a music video and also received the K-pop girl group grand prize at a year-end awards ceremony.

However, the agency did not pay the costume production fees and began repeatedly delaying payment.

A said, “The staff member who commissioned the costumes told us that they do not handle payments and gave us the contact information of a company director,” adding, “The director said during a phone call that payment would be made by January 15, but we still haven’t been paid.”

Despite multiple attempts to reach them afterward, there was no response. A also sent direct messages (DMs) through the agency’s official social media accounts, but received no reply.

Eventually, on the 20th, A’s side sent a certified letter of demand to both the agency’s corporate address and the representative’s home, notifying them that further action would be taken if payment was not made within three days of receipt.

Regarding the production costs, A said, “1.4 million won was owed to my parents’ company, and 600,000 won to another company we introduced, for a total of 2 million won ($1.3K USD),” and added, “As a small business owner, this is extremely frustrating. It may be a large amount to some and a small amount to others, but how are we supposed to deal with this kind of going silent?”

In closing, A said, “We just want to receive payment for the costumes we worked on. We hope the issue can be resolved smoothly without causing harm to the young artists full of dreams who wore the outfits,” adding, “We also hope that situations like this do not continue to happen.”

    1. Who is it?

    2. Entertainment companies are the biggest thugs when dealing with money

    3. If the clothing cost is paid by the director, it doesn't seem like a big company

    4. F*ck pay them you f*ckers

    5. What the? Who is this girl group? Give them the money

    6. Where is it? Reveal it. What is this thug company

    7. Where is the company?

    8. Yah give the cash f*ck

    9. Who is the girl group?

    10. Why are they not paying?

  • grand prize

how many gg's won one in this award season?

maybe it was supposed to refer to Girl group of the year, or Rookie girl group of the year

  • hmmm...isn't that why we have courts and legal systems so that if there is breach of contract that that can be rectified

If they're complaining about not being paid 2 million won, then I don't think they can afford the civil suit for as long as it would take to win that in the courts.

then mention the bloody group and / or company if one intends to use social pressures to force the company to act

I totally understand going public exposure route but you gotta expose something for it to work no?

Even if the company said we will give the offending company 14 days to rectify the issue or we will go public with the details etc etc

they already gave enough hints...plus naming names in Korea gets you into a defamation lawsuit. Remember, in Korea one can sue for defamation even if the claims made are factual.

They'd probably still want to work with entertainment companies and don't wanna burn every bridge

  • that's understandable but why make the post in the first place?

like it will be pretty obvious to the kpop company involved right? that one's supplier is taking to social media to call them out (that from the OP is apparently starship)

    Ideally

Supplier vaguely complains→it goes viral→ company reaches out→settlement→post goes no with no further updates
