Do you think STARSHIP is ever gonna give IVE an original Title Track?

While it's already obvious that there's going to be allusions to Sinatra's song of the same title, it clearly won't be a cover, and furthermore it's impossible for any of us to make any meaningful commentary on this particular song or its use of sampling without, you know, actually hearing it first. We might as well assume it's copying Brown Eyed Girls while we're at it.

It is really weird how often they dip into interpolations and samples and outright covers. From their very first song even.

I guess that's their concept at this point.

I don't mind, and in fact I kind of love that this is one of IVE's concepts. Sampling classic old songs.

I personally don't mind it, because I can clearly see Ive's identity even in sample-based songs. What matters most to me is how well those samples blend with Ive's identity through the combination of concept, aesthetic, and the members chemistry. I think rather than killing originality, the samples become part of a creative process that makes the final result feel distinctly Ive. And most importantly, I genuinely like the outcome of those sample-based songs most of the time. So overall, I think the company is able to showcase Ive's identity even through sample-based tracks.

It does cheapen their music a bit to me.

I will say the sampling is getting repetitive. It’s like starship doesn’t have a creative bone in their body.
