HYBE offered exclusive promotion rights to BTS' upcoming tour in exchange for 50% of Coachella and control of which kpop acts would perform. Was told to kick rocks.

Embarrassing.

Thank God it didnt happen. That's insanity and would have ruined the kpop international promotion system bit by bit.

This news is as shocking as revealing. Further confirming my own analysis of Hybe's psychology and patterns of behavior in the industry.
Simple: Hybe want total monopoly, total control.
Their greed know no bound.
They want to be able to build a whole kpop reality and world where they hold all the carts, all the keys, all the bullets.
They control who debuts, who gets the right to be 'successful' or get promotions, who gets the right to even exist (NewJeans), who gets the rights to perform well on streaming platforms (aka spotify etc), who gets pushed vs who gets sabotaged (all their rivals not controled by them), who gets opportunies for special events, for special stages...
They gotta own the media, the pr agencies, inflitrate their own fandoms and other communities with their workers, manipulate the whole narrative , manipulate reality itself.
Their greed for domination is so fanatical, that they are willing to craft a whole PARALLELE REALITY build on lies, manipulation, bribery, blackmail, monopoly, payola, anything... that would appear them as the WINNERS of the Kpop game.
They gotta be in control of who gets to perform at Coachella, at Kohaku, at ANYWERE presitgious really.
If they got the deal, rest assured NONE of their rivals would have been allowed to ever perform at Coachella. Unless maybe they also start to crowl, and accept to weaken their groups popularity for Hybe groups sake. I mean you get the gist...
If Hybe gets control over a music insitution through whatever means (like Scooter for Spotify) or if they got the Coachella deal, they will NOT ALLOW ANYONE BUT THEIR GROUPS TO DOMINATE THIS PLATFORMS.
CAN YOU IMAGINE?!
Has there ever be such a greedy, shameless and controling company ever?
WHO do they think they are??!
Kpop GODS?

They were successful with Spotify so they trying other ways like coachella too
-
-
-
Unfortunately, Grammy didn’t have the balls to turn down their offer, lol.

i would like to add how fcking DESPERATE this move is. and INSECURE.
ALL of bts promoter rights?
basically, they are admiting they are not able to make genuine POPULAR groups, popular enough to get the Chella invitation organically!
PATHETIC.
ps: what other platforms did they bye to get this kind of power? im pretty sure they have an exclusive kpop collaboration going on with spotify through scooter!

if hybe's success is moslty fake, aren't they like scamming their investors??
it just feels like this 'apparent' success is not just for bango's ego strocks, it's also to scam investors into putting gigantic amount of money in hybe...
hybe ain't making much profits tho. in the name of 'expansion' they say. right!
that company is a whole *ss SCAM.
but with bango at its head, who would be surprised?

They really think they are all that

They offered AEG full rights to BTS' upcoming tour...which would be stuff like ticketing, venue operations, merch, advertising, etc. I believe HYBE uses Live Nation for their groups. For those that don't know, AEG and Live Nation are direct competitors.

it doesn't matter how big an artist is, 50% is a lot and just too much...

HYBE has been using BTS as a leverage for years and use those deals for their groups.

The article is vague. HYBE wants 50% of Coachrlla revenue for how long? Say in what K-pop acts to perform their for how long long? I see what HYBE is offering, but there's no info for thr duration of what HYBE wants.
1 year it night make sense. 10 years? That's an awful deal.

HYBE wanted 50% ownership in Coachella (and control of which kpop acts get invited).

Simply the China of Kpop.

you can't be successful in everything. human decisions have an imprevisible part to them.
even if this deal was favorable, AEG might still not sell for other reasons, maybe ethics, or beliefs, history, cultural impact etc.
maybe even if it was favorable, AEG was in no need of such a deal.
HYBE don't even have that much power in the west. they are DESPERATLY and FRANTICALLY trying to slither in tho.
for example: they made it on Spotify (thansk to Scooter)
they got that grammy nom, i guess thanks to Scooter again
(well daddy gave him so much money for his empty company and paid of his 70millions debt so...)
but they can't get everything tho and this deal wasn't even that good for AEG.
anyway. im still proven right in the sense that weither they are successful at it or not, which i imagine they often are more likely in the east, their intentions are very clear.
they want TOTAL MONOPOLY. and TOTAL PAYOLA. and ZERO competition.

And HYBE has plenty of stabilized groups already. It's kinda embarassing they still need their 13 year old group to trade deals instead of present the other groups' values on their own
le sserafim, and enhypen performed at the previous coachella ...katseye is also part of this year's line-up so HYBE rumored negotiations/deals is them being greedy.
