The largest single weekend concert held in Korea is this
Where Lee Jieun crowned herself as the Queen of KPop in the Soccer Stadium of Seoul, the only major venue open in the capital city (the other one, the Olympic Stadium, will be in renovation till 2026, and then until 2031 will be used as a baseball field, denying it to concerts until 2032 when Seokjin will be 40!
The Koreans did not do anything about it during the Covid days when it was closed for anything, then allowed its first full concert to, yes, of course, Lee Jieun!)
The two day concert assembled 108,000, the largest of all time in Korea (Psy supposedly had a non paying event in Seoul Square during the height of Gangnam Style which assembled 1 million, more realistically 200,000, but that does not count since it is a non paying event)
But thanks to Lim Youngwoong, Son Heungmin and rabid Korean soccer fans, quite vocal but no more than 15,000 (Korea is not that well known for its soccer) the mayor of Seoul capitulated and forbid the ground to be used for concerts
There is a local election in June, where it is possible that the current mayor of Seoul, who has served for more than 10 years total, is replaced by someone else who might be more open to opening the ground for concerts, Lim Youngwoong, Son Heungmin and Korean soccer fans be damned.
BTS will announce its concert schedule on the 14th.
If it does its opening concert in a bullshit stadium, like Goyang or Incheon (like what Stray Kids did , below)
Total attendees around 60,000
BTS shows to the entire world that it is in the same league as BlackPink and Stray Kids, and inferior to Lee Jieun who can never have a concert in a stadium for 2 days outside of Korea.
So I think BTS should avoid adding a concert in Korea until after June when Seoul might have a mayor who is more open to allowing concerts at the Soccer Stadium.
If it does have a concert in Goyang or Incheon, Lee Jieun will laugh hard, her fans will laugh harder, and show the world that BTS has declined to the same level as BlackPink , Stray Kids and Seventeen, let alone the leading acts of the world.
