There was a survey in Japan 2 year ago, BTS fan average age was 41. There fans are even older than fans of senior group like Arashi.

Except some local/nugu/mid-tier girl groups, all kpop (both boy or girl) groups fanbase are mostly women.

What's actually surprising here? BTS are from 28-33 yo, they are grown men. Fans who grew up with them would mostly be 30-40 yo. 50yo part is interesting tho. I wonder how many are bts fans and how many are solos.

I can't see teenagers going around buying magazines.

The magazine isn't elle Japan is it , that info doesn't mean globally the fandom is universally in their 40s but who knows....
