My problem with small groups

  • seems to be legit problem indeed

    example is Kiss of Life

it's another situation when one member doesn't perform due to being sick/injured/have different schedule

and in consequence stage seems empty and performance doesn't seem full

I'm still thinking that to make it make sense groups should have at least 6 members, then when one needs to sit out it doesn't make whole team look so small

  • A group can still make up for it with how they use backup dancers and use the stage. The bigger issue with this performance would be energy wasn't fully there and didn't cover parts.

  • Or it could simply be a poor performance.

BIGBANG performed without a TOP last year, yet the performance went viral, proving it's possible.

Performances in recent years have become so much about sound and light shows with special effects everywhere and armies of dancers in the background that they increasingly mask the flaws of some performances.

yeah but BB had tons of dancers and it was MAMA stage and everyone went crazy

the surprise factor of members appearing there to join G-DRAGON make it all already amazing

Not really. When you are not in your best shape mentally or physically it'll mirror in your performance and if you can't make it up bc of one member than you aren't the good one.

yes but filling in for missing member when you are already tired on your own from packed schedule is kind of like a nail in the coffin for other members

Yes and no. Agencies need to pay attention for idols health and like I said, if it's a bad day for them even with all members there they would still look bad like the performance wouldn't suddenly improve.

  • This has nothing to do with small groups. This is all about skills and mostly experience.

I love multiple 4 or even 3 member groups and they never had this problem.

Actually, more than 5 or 6 members means more problems, because the song has to be divided for 7 people and the same goes for the chore and other things. Sometimes, all you can see is 2 or 3 people doing something and the rest of them are basically backup dancers or just standing there.

  • Skill issue

3 member Sistar manage to end everyone still

  • - If they selected right people from the start, 1 or 2 absent means nothing,

    - The emptiness can be solved by backup dancers,

    - There is no reason for a girl group to have more than 5 members in 2025. Boy group yes, because of enlistment.
