Very brave of Cocona and glad they is in a supportive environment because the ppl ‘who do not understand’ - many of them can’t let others be. All the unnecessary remarks and wanting to control of other’s private lives when people just want to simply be who they wish to be authentically w/o hurting anyone.

Edit: just saw Cocona’s preferred pronouns - in English - they/them since I unintentionally wrote she originally.

Why can't it simply be transman or transwoman, and that's it? What happened to simply being tomboy and... femboy... too? (not in the sexual sense!!)

Incredibly brave of them, especially considering how the kpop fandom is still so closed minded as it can be seen by looking at some of the replies of this thread.

That was very brave of them. I believe our purpose here is to follow a path where we can be who we are and find our happiness regardless of the obstacles.

It's nice to see idols like NingNing, Giselle, Tsuki, Hikaru Katseye members, jpop artists, and a few others like the post. Seems like they will be getting support from the industry. I feel very brave of them to do this, and it may influence others to be more comfortable about themselves. Representation matters, and seeing somebody as popular as them coming out might make the difference for somebody

Of course I can't speak from experience, but it's much deeper than being gay, bi, straight, and transgender. I assume they feel they don't identity with social construct on what society defines as genders. Also I don't think it defines which sex they're attracted to, so it's not as simple as that. Again, not an expert but just an observation, and if that makes a person comfortable with who they are, then let them be.

So, which pronouns should I use for Coco-now?

Oh, I understand. It's just that I remember not too long ago people who were LGBT were telling others that they preferred not to have labels. Now we're in 2025, and everything has to be labelled to the smallest detail.

I respect that she's found herself to be in a happier place than she's been before, but broadly speaking, does labelling yourself to such an extent make you happier in the long run...?

Having labels like these often give people a sense of belonging. I am not trans so I won't begin to understand their experience but many people spend their lives confused and unsure of who they are, and maybe that was the case for Cocona here. Now they have found a label that helps them understand who they are, find others with similar experiences that they can connect with, and be able to more easily explain their feelings to those around them.

So yea I think it makes a lot of people happier in the long run. You really shouldn't question these things because you can never truly understand what they are feeling.

However, labels that have been used for a long time have been used, to some extent, in broad terms.

For example, people, to some extent, think that being bisexual means you're 50/50 in sexual and romantic attraction, which we all know is bullcrap, when it really isn't and is broad in attraction.

By narrowing things down too much to microlabels, you're perpetuating the stereotypes of people of certain sexualities. Same for if you're a lesbian or gay, but use other terms because of connotations. If you use terms as gay and lesbian, you're telling people that you aren't the stereotype of being feminine or butch.

Can't fully speak on this, but I assume there will be different attitudes towards this and people in the LGBT community isn't a monolith. You will of course have people that have different thoughts on that, and maybe it's because of the country I'm in, but didn't see much talk about not wanting to have labels unless I'm misreading that part.

I assume them coming out allows them to be free and be who they truly want to be. I assume it's fulfilling knowing you can be who you truly are. So, that would indeed make a person happier because they no longer have to be under the shackles of something that's holding them back.

This is incredibly brave of Cocona and I hope they continue to find happiness as they grow older

Indeed. Yes a mere like can seem "meaningless" at face value but it genuinely warms my heart to see other celebs leave their support in the way they can.
