With AMKU leaving YG Entertainment in December - If Blackpink were to leave would you still consider YG to be part of the big 3/4?

  • Even if BLACKPINK doesn’t renew their contract, I’d still see them as a Big 4 group. I mean, technically groups like 2NE1, BIGBANG, iKON, or Epik High aren’t part of the Big 4 anymore, and BLACKPINK would be the same. But for me, 2NE1, BIGBANG and the others will always be ‘YGno matter what and that’s exactly how I see BLACKPINK too.

and I also think that once Blackpink leaves YG, YG won’t really be considered part of the Big 4 anymore.

people have mentioned DSP and that company falling out of the big3...

at what point do you consider the same for YGE? or will they never fall out because of past successes?

For me, YG would fall out of the “Big 4” once they no longer have major artists under their label. And by “major artists,” I don’t just mean ones who make money .I mean groups like BLACKPINK, BIGBANG, or 2NE1, who brought the company not only profit but also prestige, global recognition, and a lasting cultural impact on the public.

Even if YG does drop out of the Big 4, I think the influence of their past artists is strong enough that the company would still maintain its image and reputation for a while. So even if they’re no longer one of the top four companies, YG as a brand would still hold significant value. to me, there’s a difference between being a “big company” and being a “brand-name company,” and YG fits more into the latter once their roster isn’t as strong.
