There’s 9 writers but her name

Is first which means she did the most work for the lyrics . Other writers involved could’ve guided or added some lyrics tot he song. However bulk of the work was Karina for the lyrics . The key when looking credits is to see who is listed first because any input that gets added can be in the credits

I guessed as much also and I saw she's listed first on Genius but not Spotify which, like I said, threw me off.

I notice with HYBE in particular, they don't tend to separate out the credits. For example, I rarely see them do "lyrics/composition/arrangement" in the way the other labels do. Sometimes it's just "produced", sometimes it's "written/produced".

Spotify also doesn't separate it out, so that's never much use.

I don't know why HYBE does it that way to be honest. From my understanding, the reason they have sixteen writers on a 3 minute song is because the topliners basically get together and do a sort of cypher over the instrumental, trying out different melodies for hours. But HYBE aren't unique in having songs written in this way.

Anyway, it's user-edited (but, ftr, so is Genius), but Wikipedia tends to be accurate:

Not true. As I said, Genius credits are also user-edited. There have been many times when it has been wrong. In my experience, it has been wrong more often than Wikipedia. They may get an initial infodump from the label, but that isn't exhaustive, and it can still be edited after the fact as far as I know

Like, I understand what you're saying, it's common for Kenzie or JY Park to write the Korean lyrics to an external demo. But both of those can also contribute their own song from scratch, just like Pdogg and Slow Rabbit etc. And even when they do, and even if they're involved in all aspects, they're credited individually for each contribution.

Do I believe that Frants wrote lyrics sometimes, for songs he produced when he worked at JYPE, and then wrote lyrics all the time, when he started working for HYBE? No.

But if you continue to scroll it's more precise below and they clearly differenciate lyricist, composer etc...

And you can see that even on Genius, karina is the only one credited as lyricist

While all the other are credited as simply composer or producer and not as lyricist

They are the songwriters + composers + producers. And the credits are mostly just them + Hong Jisang their longtime producer since their debut in 2015 that stuck with them even until now

I think it is very commendable that both Wonyoung and Karina, regardless of how much they actually contributed to the writing or production of the song

I hope to see more opportunities for both of them and also the rest of the members. These 2 groups are on track to be the top 2 groups of their generation if they are not already
